Europe is commonly accepted as being more liberal than the USA. Moreover, David Cameron calls himself a "liberal conservative", Nick Clegg is a Liberal Democrat, and Ed Miliband has openly stated (one of the few policy statements he has made, really) that same-sex marriage should be legal.

What politicians call themselves is irrelevant. So are the views of people who see Europe as a homogeneous bloc contrasted with the US.

The UK is recognised by people who actually look at government policies and the state of government infringement of people's rights as one of the most illiberal countries in the Western world. In some areas (privacy is a good example) we're behind Russia.

We're certainly less liberal than the US.

Which is exactly why I said "supposedly". The UK is the most unnecessarily authoritarian country in Europe, to be honest :/

we've had several threads related to this subject. This law should be passed in all 50 states. I know some religious type people at work that are all against this. The bible saids this and that, then I'm like blah, blah, blah gay people deserve all the right's of straight people. I personally think some people make such a big deal out of one's sexual preference. I mean really, what does it matter. I think the United states is slowly, but surley coming around.

I really wish they'd get legalized more quickly, and in more states simoltaneously. At this rate we're gonna be having 44 more threads about this.
