Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Valve: Wii U has power. Gabe Newell talks.

I could be wrong but I suspect that the entire reason the hardware of the Wii U was choosen was to ensure that it would receive cross platform development from third party developers regardless of whether they were targeting current generation HD consoles or next generation systems.

Effectively, developers can release their PS3 and XBox 360 games with moderate graphical upgrades on the Wii U at 1080p @60fps, and (if Sony and Microsoft go all out) games targeting next generation platforms could be released on the Wii U with minor graphical downgrades and still run at 720p @ 30fps.

Portal 3 Wii U exclusive?

Hey!! I can dream!!!!

Don't you dare dream about taking Portal 3 away from the PC! =P

Also I'm going to wait for some more solid specs until I listen to anyone about the Wii U's power, there have been a few fairly contradictory statements recently.

That means Portal 2 sold about 1.3Million on the PC. apx. 1million through steam, Very nice indeed.

I imagine valve will put some of their games on the Wii U - it simply makes sense for them to do it - just don't expect any exclusives

Playing : PC  AOE, DiRT 2, Runes of Magic, Wings of Prey & Planetside 2

Wii U : Nintendoland, Super Mario U  & Fifa 2013 demo

Interested =/= We will have a game for the Wii U..

Sorry that I sound so negative but damned in 2007 we had hundred developpers who were interested in the Wii..

Examples:

Kojima not interested in HD but is interested in the Wii!!

Valve interested in the Wii! Portal for Wii coming?

To name just a few..

My favorite is Bethesda:

"We are going to make an announcement on a really big Wii game this year" <- That was in 2009

I take this with a grain of salt. Third parties always praise Nintendo hardware then when the thing actually comes out they are nowhere to be seen. Sorry third parties, but you've cried "wolf" one too many times.

Right. I'd be a fool to trust 3rd parties at this point, and they had better make some extra effort to re-earn my trust (which comes with $$)

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

the whole idea of scalability is a good thing for Wii U, if it is capable of it. If the latest PC games with the best graphics can be scaled to the Wii U easily, that means that Wii U should have no problem getting scaled ports from the next-gen xbox and PS4.

Most anticipated games of 2011:

Uncharted 3,Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword, Rocksmith

Modern Warfare 3, Super Mario 3D

Can't wait to see what visuals the Wii U can pull out!

"Wii U seems to be a lot more powerful than the previous generation," he said, adding, "It sort of fits better into the scalability in terms of graphics performance and CPU performance, so I think it'll be a lot easier for us to fit it into our scalability model."

A lot more powerful than the previous generation? did anybody notice this?

    R.I.P Mr Iwata :'(

Mark Rein on Twitter:

“Valve likes the WiiU — the idea of having full Steam support on WiiU excites me quite a bit! Valve rocks!”

yay!?
