Forums - Gaming - Do you, Sony and Microsoft see a future in Motion Control?

"Nintendo will make the change at the time but could Microsoft and Sony be too proud to implement this game changing technology?"

..This made me laugh. :p Come on. Has Sony ever been too proud to implement any innovation Nintendo came up with? D-pad? Analogue Stick? Shoulder buttons? Rumble feature? Handheld-connectivity? Sony will definitely copy Nintendo (it already has in some way with the sixaxis), not sure about Microsoft though. Depends on how this generation plays out. If it does as things go now, then yes, I think MS'll use motion-sensing too. Could become a new industry standard like most of the aforementioned innovations by Nintendo.

 2008 Predictions:

Wii: 44 Million
Xbox360: 25 Million
PS3: 22 Million

DS: 90 Million
PSP: 37 Million

Its like people completely forget that the ps3 has Motion controls..

lol dude thats cos its hardly ever used, its like a waste of space in the controler, all u can do is tilt and move it around in the air with both hands, far from inovative motion sensing use, it pretty much doesnt even count

Well your right dude, its not like any game uses it. No games on the ps3 use it except that uncharted game were you move up the controller to throw grenades thats it. Six axis sucks.

PS EYE is $hit too, wii mote ftw!

So you're finally wising up eh?

some?

ha yea right.

Nintendo copied and so did sony, you cant say EVERYONE COPIES OF NINTENDO CUZ THEYZZ DAZ GODSZZ. Nintendo copied online gaming, and dvd drive, and using s disc for games, and several other things, as did sony copying nintendo in motion controls, and micro$oft copying basicly everyone..

every one is copying every one else, my original statement about sony and ms being to proud to accept this completly new way of playing games is based on their statements regarding motion controles as not being next gen and so not having a place in this generation of gaming. Sony and microsoft will now have to say that they were wrong and that motion controles are next gen and make some kind of implementation of this technology in their future consoles. (sony will have to do it properly this time) I think a change like that is a little bit bigger then copying a button placement on a controler.

@ leo-j
ok just talking about Nintendo and controllers

the d pad
shoulder buttons
erganomic design
the analogue stick
Rumble
wireless pads
empathic design
motion controls
positional controls

seriously mate, credit where credit's due

Oh yes, didnt they also invent the controll pad

'You should try everything once in your life except incest, homosexuality and morris dancing' - Oscar Wylde (sort of)

the erganomic design u speak of is used in alot of things, nintendo didnt invent this design that perfetly fits in ur hand. cooking items are shaped with curved handles, electric razors, tools, infact most comfortable thing that you hold feature a similar shape to the handls on a n64, gc and wii nunchuck, nintendo just put this design feature to use in the controler

Your definatly giving nintendo to much cred as far as design is concerned, they just looked to the world for what worked and put it in the shape of the controlers handles

Nintendo copied and so did sony,

Which I see as a good thing for gamers. How many times have I plays games and wished they had copy the good parts of a another game.

As far as D-pad I hated it and was so thankful when consoles turn to PC's analogue stick. IBM PC was the first I ever used a analogue stick.
