Am I the only one who thought the video seem whiny being that this game is probably at least a year away from release?

I don't know how I feel about having the analogs above the buttons, either.

does this mean you don't have an extra thumb?

No, but damn, I wish I did. I could fap any time without anyone knowing.

I said basically the same thing in the OP. If you're judging the Wii U's shooter capabilities based on this, you're getting ahead of yourself.

I'll be using the Wiimote's IR for shooters, if I do buy them on Wii U opposed to PC. Any other method seems too archaic and slow for me.

Big surprise. Kotaku thinks Nintendo's controller sucks.

Why dont we just all go back to using an Atari 2600 control stick?

Kotaku's primary revenue stream is derived from Sony and Microsoft advertising, not Nintendo.

“When we make some new announcement and if there is no positive initial reaction from the market, I try to think of it as a good sign because that can be interpreted as people reacting to something groundbreaking. ...if the employees were always minding themselves to do whatever the market is requiring at any moment, and if they were always focusing on something we can sell right now for the short term, it would be very limiting. We are trying to think outside the box.” - Satoru Iwata - This is why corporate multinationals will never truly understand, or risk doing, what Nintendo does.

Yes, well the first step is denial, isn't that right?

Yes he is a bit whiny, but afterall he has to make judgements about what he actually tries. At this time of development this demo doesn't seem particulary good to me either.

Not like it takes that long to adept to new controls. The thumb pad is no worse than any analog stick if you use it correctly.
