The exec told GamesIndustry.biz that Sony and Microsoft will be feeling "pressure" from the recentWii price drop, and that similar moves would help boost a market that's currently in decline.


"The UK is declining quite fast," he said. "It's declining, if we don't take into account the digital revenue.

"This year they will continue to drop the price," he added of Sony and Microsoft.

Guillemot said in April he'd also like to see new consoles from Microsoft and Sony, which he feels would drive greater creativity from game makers.

I think a price drop for both consoles is in order. This is my guess as to what we will see come closer to holiday season:

X360 Prices:

Xbox 360 4GB Console (Maybe w/ Game): $149.99
Xbox 360 320GB Console (Maybe w/ Game): $249.99 (I believe Microsoft will drop the 250GB and go with a 320GB Console)
Xbox 360 4GB Console w/ Kinect& Kinect Game: $199.99
Xbox 360 320GB Console w/ Kinect& Kinect Game: $299.99

PS3 Prices:

PS3 160GB Console (Maybe w/ Game) $249.99
PS3 320GB Console (Maybe w/ Game) $349.99
PS3 160GB Console w/ Move and Move Game: $299.99
PS3 320GB Console w/ Move and Move Game: $399.99

This is just what would make sense to me for price cuts. Im sure there will be new offers that we havn't thought of yet either.

Yes,  as I would expect the same scenario.  The 320GB Move Bundle will drop to $349 as well.   It will have a decent effect on both consoles,  but nothing like a $100 cut would,  I just doubt that either would do that this year.  But i also doubted that the PS Vita would be less than $299

I agree. Its hard to see either console getting a $100 price cut by themselves. The only way It could be a remote possibility for Sony would be if they somehow made a large amound of hardware changes in costs, and even then they would be selling at a loss. But I would say if there was a $199 PS3 on the market it would have huge jumps in sales figures.

Sounds good to me.

They both need one and it will give them both a boost they will need. There's probably going to be a hardware decline this year and lower prices will help to counter act that.

Sony isn't going to do a 100 drop for one simple reason, vita is going to be 250 they can't have their console be less then a portable it would hurt vita sales
