Forums - Gaming - EA : We LOST Some FANS With Dragon Age 2!

Dragon Age 2 is a good game, just not outstanding like the first. Why so many things were removed for simpler version of it I don't know. I did however like the combat, it felt more fluid is anything.

Did mind the 'wheel of telling you want to say in pictures', I liked just lines of text made answering the correct answer that little bit harder. There are many things I'd like back from DAO to be in DA3 but keep the combat fluidity and graphics.

Also, no multi-player, I can't even see a reason for it.

Hmm, pie.

Multiplayer? Why do they think everything needs multiplayer? RPG games don't need it and I don't see anyway they can make it good enough to where I will play it over Halo, Left 4 Dead, Transformers or Uncharted multiplayer. That is what I do when I want multiplayer. Single player everything else please and don't waste your time on it Bioware.

Every heard of Neverwinter Nights? it's made by Bioware.

Some of the most popular role-playing games of all time are multiplayer.

I said that being a console gamer not thinking about MMO's. However this is Dragon Age. Not being a MMO Dragon Age how do you see that working? A whole bunch of people running around killing darkspawn. Great

Huh? Neither am I. Who said anything about MMOs?

I'm talking about multiplayer RPGs which have been around since the beginning of the genre.

Oh yeah there are so many multiplayer RPG games out there what was I thinking. Fallout errrr, Mass Effect errrr, any JRPG errrr. There is hardly any for good reason, get out of here. It happens about as often as single player only FPS games.

Funny, both things you just described have happened because of consoles.

My main problem with Dragon Age 2 is that it is NOT a sequel of Origins, not in a classical way. It is more of a spin off.
I don't remember who, but I someone here on Vgchartz wrote it should have been called "Dragon Age: The Kirkwall Chronicles" and I couldn't agree more about it.
If the title didn't promiss to enhance the previous 5 years in developtment experience, which was challenging and very expansive in PC, but it just promiss to offer us another kind of experience settled in the same universe just to make the wait for the real sequel more bareable, people wouldn't be so furious with Bioware.

I had huge expectations for the game. And though it was a good game, it did disappoint me for the reason previously stated.

Diablo, Neverwinter Nights, Baldurs Gate, Dungeon Siege, Fable, Icewind Dale, Titan Quest, Sacred, Hunted The Demon's Forge, Dungeons and Dragons, Borderlands, Magicka

Dragon Age has a lot more in common with these games than the ones you mentioned.

I'm talking about role-playing games, not glorified movies/choose your own adventure books.

I'm not talking about MMORPGs, JRPGs or single player only first-person shooters.

My problem with Dragon Age 2 was that it seemed much more repetitive, far less diverse, and boring compared to Dragon Age: Origins. The gameplay overall and "class" system were more refined, and so was the interface which was nice, but the story was boring, the setting got old, and the dungeons felt like rehashes. The biggest thing that I liked about Dragon Age: Origins was that you visited a new place in any order you wished, and all felt a bit different from the others. Furthermore, there were many facets to the story where you could prefer one aspect even if you don't like another. Dragon Age 2 seemed mostly Templar vs. Apostates with a few other minor, yet somewhat contributing, subplots. Dragon Age Origins just felt a lot bigger, and had a better atmosphere overall with a good backstory as well as a strong main plotline and fleshed out sub-plots that competed in hours spent with the main plot. This isn't to say Dragon Age 2 was bad, it was a great game and I had fun with it, but it wasn't near the level of DA:O. Oh and I liked Dragon Age: Origin's dialogue system a lot more than Dragon Age 2's. If they are to change anything back in Dragon Age 3 it better be that.

Here is something I do know, and that is Bioware does take criticism seriously. For all the bitching and moaning that we hear about Mass Effect 2. Some would think that Bioware had not addressed a previously griped about problem. When the truth is the complete opposite. Bioware enhanced, removed, or upgraded a lot of the previous games big issues as pointed out by players. So yeah they listen, and do take what fans say to heart.

Now if you were hoping that Bioware was going to just ditch the entire core mechanics. You should just be honest with yourself, and admit the only reason you liked the original was the dialogue wheel, and the story. So if that was enough for you then. Well it should be good enough for you throughout. There is a difference between responding to criticism, and making the game that you want.

Calm down, it is perfectly reasonable for a console player to confuse half-assed games, half-assed movies, quarter-assed overall package with proper, good RPG games.
