Too late for the PS3 to beat 360? Nah, though if they don't make some serious inroads this year it will be.
2008 is make or break, so sony better hope those big exclusives don't get pushed back to the middle of 09.

Are you kidding HappySqurriel? The PS3 represents everything that is revolutionary this generation!!! Blu-ray, Sixaxis, EyeToy centered games, Free Online, Home, Wi-fi, 7-controller support, etc. etc. The wii is revolutionary but offers only one way of gameplay, the 360 offered absolutly nothing besides the ability to play next-gen games. Sony is the one that added everything instead of making a cheap console with motion sensing (nintendo) or just a cheap console (microsoft). The 360 will be surpassed before next christmas by PS3 and although i think the PS3 will eventually outsell the wii, it will be only because nintendo will release a wii 2.0 with better hardware around christmas 2009 or 2010

Blu-Ray is an evolutionary movie format ... Essentially a DVD at higher resolution
The Eye toy was a PS2 add-on and the Playstation Eye is evolution of that concept
The PS2 offered Free Online, but online gameplay was also avalable on the Dreamcast and XBox
Wifi is just a simpler way to hook up your internet and controllers and doesn't really change anything
The Sixaxis and Home are the only two things you mentioned which could even (remotely) be called new, and yet the sixaxis was a half-assed reaction to the Wiimote and their loss of the rumble patent lawsuit, and home offers no value to gaming and is similar to a variety of free services available on the internet.
@TYLERxDURDEN
You shouldn't waste your time arguing with HappySqurriel, if you look at his history of posts he clearly dislikes the PS3. And it shows, I think its best for you to back off away from his posts or ignore his posts.

My posting history will also show I have been remarkably accurate with my predictions to date, and that I have been fair to the PS3. If you also look at TYLERxDURDEN's post you will realize that he (basically) proved my point.

Say something awful about the Xbox 360 for once, by your history it just proves that you truly dislike the PS3.
| MikeB said: @ HappySqurriel handhelds based on what 'new' things they offer not because they provide prettier graphics I thought Nintendo already had near 100% market share of the handheld market before the release of the PSP, so why should anyone have thought the DS-lite wouldn't be popular as well? The Gameboy (+color) sold 120 million units! The were much more powerful handheld consoles than the Gameboy, but form factor, battery life, etc are more important for practical purposes. I own 2 Nintendo DS systems and I owned a Gameboy Advance, my expectations for a handheld console are way different than for home consoles, also note there have been many touchscreen games before the release of the Nintendo DS, for PDAs. |
Most people shouldn't have doubted the success of the Nintendo DS, but when it was released everyone thought Nintendo was crazy; analysts claimed instant success for the PSP, third party publishers focused their efforts away from the DS, and the only people who saw the potential of the DS were Nintendo fans. One of the main reasons that EA, Capcom, Ubisoft and Sega are some of the earliest developers to really support the Wii is because they were the developers who were so badly burned by the PSP.

Wow, you should ask Legend11 if I love the XBox 360 ... To paraphrase an earlier statment I made about the XBox 360 after owning it for a couple of months "I have never played a system with so may overhyped games in my life; most of the games I have played neither deserve the reviews or the sales that they have received" ...
As a general rule I use logic, history and market trends to make my statements which seems to be at odds with most PS3 fans; as someone else said "Reality has an anti-Sony Bias".
