Was it confirmed that only Kinect's version will have voice recognition? Did they say that the PS3 version will not support Move? And that the PC will not get voice support.

Yes, it's been confirmed that voice recognition will only be on 360 through Kinect. No mention of Move has been made. Kotaku have an article about it somewhere.

Ohh that makes sense. Microsoft was wise to do this, they really know how to ease devs work. The other two should take note.

I think it's dumb that they make it seem like it's only possible on kinect when they can do that on all platforms. Actually, it'd be a piece of cake for them to make it so you can enable voice commands with the 360 headset, PS3 mic inputs, and on PC. This is just really dumb.

Unless you are able to use multiple languages for commands, which Kinect supports and PC headset doesnt...

funny cause i was doing that with chinese just the other day on pc. all it takes are the right libaries. you should know better than that since you are a pc gamer.

You're assuming Bioware is ready and willing to incorporate and build the libraries for this feature in to a Mass Effect 3. Considering Kinect has voice recognition built in, they could have been approached by microsoft and given an easy way of doing this with minimal resources.

Otherwise I'm sure every game studio and their moms can build voice recognition in to a game if they wanted to so lets start being pissed at everyone since no one is doing it.

At this point, I just think it's dumb for them to put it in to start with after this thread since my kbo key strokes would be a shit ton faster than any voice command, and dual analog vets can do it faster too. It really doesn't add much to a core game like ME imo now. Might be better for a more complex RTS on consoles, would make a lot more sense.

I think the reason they're only doing it for Kinect is because it's so well supported. Microsoft have probably already built the software needed which should make it much easier to build. Kinect has also been optimized for taking commands, there's an array of microphones in there after all. So I'm guessing the reason it's happening so much on Kinect is because it's easy and also very stable. Players with different microphones could have completely different experiences for example.

But everyone with an Xbox has a microphone, why not let us use it!!! End War was so awesome for that reason (End War with Kinect might be interesting) and has clearly shown voice commands can work fine

Microsoft is trying to hide the technology with Kinect, which is likely one reason. All the software I mentioned has also only been made for Kinect most likely. And I would wager that the microphones in Kinect are better than the ones in the headset.

I am 100% sure they could do it if they want to, but they want more reasons for people to buy Kinect, which is rather annoying. I know the microphone may make it easier, but it is very definitely do able

So pretty much what I've been saying all along, albeit with more credit to the hardware.
