Did we ever get sales data for it? I remember hearing it did alright. :-/

I wouldn't be too sad. Hearts R was a genuinely fun game, one of my favorite Tales titles, actually, so I could see where you might think Innocence R would be fun too. The thing is, Innocence was already a 3D Tales game, and it was super bland. The story sucked, the characters sucked, and the environments sucked. It may be my least favorite Tales game, though it does have tough competition with Xillia and especially Xillia 2 existing. I poked around some details about Innocence R, and they did nothing to make it actually better, which is a shame. You can only polish a turd so much though, and unlike Hearts, which was an older style 2D Tales game, they had no real way to drastically change Innocence to offer a truly different experience.

Yeah, I've heard some not-so-pleasant things about it (isn't Tempest supposed to be the worst mainline entry by some way?)

Regardless, though, it's still Tales.  I think I'd love it based on the combat system and soundtrack alone (I already know I love the battle theme, hehe).

I've certainly played a lot of JRPG's in hopes of replicating those feelings of enjoyment from bygone eras.  And I've played a lot of crap stuff that I've gotten enjoyment from, so I'm sure I'd love this.

Nope, nothing I can remember.  Didn't chart in UK top 40 upon release that I can remember.  It had a limited print run in the USA and seems to have not been re-printed in Europe either (although that seems common for Bamco games.  Dragon Ball Z is getting hard to find too)

I think it probably did alright for them, because it was clearly a bare-bones localization.  Just I remember Baba saying that if Hearts R did well enough, they'd consider Innocence R, so it clearly didn't do enough for them to put the effort in.

My only hopes are PSX or the slight hope that now they've done Zestiria there's nothing else to translate until Berseria comes out, which is a while off.  But the translators will probably be put on other projects that they can sell on PS3 :(

Ah yes, I had forgotten about Tempest. I never even bothered with it. The guys who did the fan translation flat out said that it was an awful game, so I figured I wouldn't waste my time. A shame that of the three DS Tales games, the only one that may have been genuinely great was never translated. I'd still like to play the original Hearts at some point, but the fan translator slowed down quite a bit once the Vita localization of R was announced (I think the project is actually on hold right now). It wasn't abandoned at least, so there is still hope that it may release someday.

Hearts was supposed to be a lot better than Innocence though. :-/
