Sony just burried the Vita. I swear I was going to buy a lime green one. So what's even the purpose of this Slim version ? cut the production cost for a product that won't move a unit ? |
Sony shouldn't annouced a vita slim it's a lot worse then the fat one but what i don't understand why you guy thing slim will be a lot cheaper then the fat one in west when it was nearly the same price in Japan
PS4 - over 100 millions let's say 120m
Xbox One - 70m
Wii U - 25m
Vita - 15m if it will not get Final Fantasy Kingdoms Heart and Monster Hunter 20m otherwise
3DS - 80m
The slim PS Vita's price of £180 is unlikely to be the amount consumers will pay, Sony has said.
The price for the new device, which was announced by the firm at a suggested £180, will change according to promotional deals.

The new slim PS Vita.
"It's a price that, today, Vita doesn't regularly sell at to be honest," UK managing director Fergal Gera told Digital Spy.
"We do run quite a series of attractive promotions. If you want to know what a great price looks like, £139 for a Vita with a Mega Pack with a memory card was probably the tastiest price we saw up to Christmas."
He continued: "We will continue to promote at opportune times. Take that as a rough guide only, and take today's market prices and the market prices you saw into and out of Christmas as a better steer as to what consumers will pay."
Gera also confirmed that the new device will replace the existing launch model, a process that will take "days to weeks" depending on the retailer.
The only thing that makes me sad about Vita at this point is Sony's lack of software for the platform.
I'm not annoyed at actual software on the platform because I love Japanese games and 2014 is going to be fantastic for that (far more than my wallet can handle). And there's some gems of games - from all regions - that were released in 2012 & 2013 too, a list I've still not finished with. Throw in that indies were a pleasant surprise for me and I'm more than happy with my purchase.
I can stomach them not promoting the machine because it's a high end portable gaming machine aimed at a market that doesn't exist. They're cutting their losses by not trying to expand their userbase beyond what already exists, and I get that.
But what I don't get is why they're not trying to sell to the existing userbase. Games of Tearaway's level (made by a small team within one of Sony's studios) are exactly what the device needs in terms of western support and Sony isn't delivering. And Sony make a lot of games I like and ultimately that's what's been most disappointing about Vita.
I still love it; and it'll probably go down as my favourite handheld of all time if it keeps up the localizations; it's just the potential is there and it's getting thrown away.
In the good new Tearaway won psvita game of the year with Persona 4 The Golden for runner up. At the PSNation thread
Bet with gooch_destroyer, he wins if FFX and FFX-2 will be at $40 each for the vita. I win if it dont

Are they handling the Vita? I need to give a FU to someone right about now... |
shuhei, shahid, adam boyce, Tony Clark are all handling things related to vita..there are others too. I would give a piece of my mind to that idiot shuhei too if he didn't block me the moment I pointed how fucking abysmal his SCEA studios output for vita is
and you know shit is bad when Badgenome gives a serious answer! :P
on a tad different note: Still didn't get a chance to play Toukiden. Will give it a go today

The most frustrating thing is that it's a market that does still exist. The 3DS is doing well enough to show that it does, and the Vita is not so much more expensive as to explain the disparity in sales.
As much as they like to tell themselves that, oh noez the smartphoanz ate that market, Sony launched the Vita with nothing that could reasonably have been expected to shift hardware at any point in time. The PSP would have struggled with this line-up. Uncharted and Gravity Rush were the closest things to system sellers they had for the launch window, and then... nothing. And they had to know that there was nothing. They couldn't have been blindsided by Monster Hunter 4 being 3DS bound and there being no Metal Gear nor Grand Theft Auto nor Final Fantasy on the way. And now that the Vita is coming up on its second year of dismal worldwide sales, the thing has the stink of failure on it to the point that there will be no Metal Gear nor GTA nor Final Fantasy nor any other substantial third party investments ever without heavy incentives from Sony themselves.
By the way let me clarify...I didn't actually say F U to them lol But I made it clear they are ruining the system and are not listening to the fans at all. They are basically like a different entity when it comes to vita compared to how they are handling the ps4. It's embarrassing and they are treating the fans who had faith in them like dirt. The success of PS4 has given them the license to do so....us vita owners or the systems future matters little to them. I mean ffs XSEED, Aksys etc are supporting the system better...so much so that if those guys put out a handheld I might actually buy it!

Bingo..i mean did these guys look back at the psp...saw the best selling games on it...and thought to themselves...yeah it's a great idea to NOT have any of these franchises ready for the next system..should be an amazing ride sales wise!
fking hell Badgenome...this company should hire us man!
