Odin Sphere has awful lag on big boss fights and that was definitely hardware limitations.

Lag? Do you mean slowdown? Sometimes on 2D games there is deliberate slowdown introduced for effect. Not played Dragon's Crown yet, so couldn't say.

only have the vita version, and it in one of the dungeon. first few dungeons no frame drop, but when i started the lvl 8 dungeon almost everyfight frame drops alot. not unplayable but really noticable.
