But the bigger new her is the loss of liverpool. There may be no need to worry, they could take all the top people from that studio and place them under another development house and keep wipe out going. The game would remain the same and it might save Sony some bucks. But man i'll miss that splash screen popping up. Seeing liverpool at the begging of the game assures quality. I really to pay homage to one the the greatest studios that ever was. I was thinking about making a tread about it. If anyone would like to help it would be great. But maybe for a week we could all run Wipeout on our vitas and PS3 24/7 Logged on just to let sony know how we feel about it. It would be great if we could get a a good amount of people to do it. It might send a message to Sony. What do you guys think?

I'll be sitting around in the HD/Fury online servers for the next few days, at the very least.

I genuinely hope this isn't the end for WipEout, but I can't see Sony giving it any attention in the near future.  It'll probably be shelved like SOCOM.

And tbh, I'm not sure I'd like anyone else to tackle the series.  SCE Liverpool had it down perfectly.  The image, the history of anti-grav racing, the soundtrack, the graphics, the track design, the gameplay - everything.  Something would be lost in the process, I'm sure.

Aside from that though, it's definitely a sad day for Sony.  WipEout was Playstation.  It's been there on every single console they've made.  It definied the image they followed for generations.

Generally, though, it's just a sad day for gaming.  Psygnosis were such a huge part of the industry for such a long time.  Even though they're technically gone, they did live on in Studio Liverpool, and now that last link is gone. :(

Fifa will have a big impact indeed, however I think Assassin's Creed will make the biggest splash since it is the only way yet to get a white Vita.

Sad news about MUGEN, at least he won't take long before he gets back. And ROBOTECHHEAVEN, wish you the best through this period of your life!

Feel free, would be nice to get a bit of a thing going here on the 'chartz anyway.  I copied this off Sal, who got it off WipEout 2048's facebook page :P

Cool, i just change my photo to my favorite racing team. I'll add this next.

So yeah, Still trying to figure out why everyone is claiming the Vita is "copying the PSP's failures." Nobody can ever be consistent I've noticed. Over on the other thread, someone was saying "the Vita is failing the same way the PSP did, Sony is relying too heavily on third parties..." I stopped reading there. Why in the world would people assume this is true? the Vita's first major release was Uncharted....alongside wipeout 2048, Modnation racers, Lumines and Little Deviants...how many of those were developed by first parties? Even so, there's plenty of portable versions of established PS exclusive franchises.

I just don't get why people are trying SO hard to make the Vita look horrible. It's disappointing, it's financially a failure so far...but it's not bad. while the sales threads are annoying and pessimistic, they do in fact have some logical ground, but the thing that bothers me the most is easily the "Vita has no games" argument. It's not just here on the forum, it's in the Gamrreview team and on virtually every article I read online, and there's absolutely no weight to it.

you could argue there's only a half dozen games on it, which is technically next to no games...but you also have to factor in the fact that it's only been out for six damn months with its first holiday ahead of it still!

Why do people have to be so negative! I'm really loving the system, and I'll be there to support it till the end! I'll even get my brother one! Planning on getting him an Assassin's Creed bundle.

Oh, and it's too expensive compared to the 3DS, that's a HUGE factor. Sony has some MAJOR management issues, but the system itself is incredibly awesome.

My Console Library:

PS5, Switch, XSX

PS4, PS3, PS2, PS1, WiiU, Wii, GCN, N64 SNES, XBO, 360

3DS, DS, GBA, Vita, PSP, Android

The first Fifa in PSvita sold very well it already outsold the first Fifa in PSP and 3DS and in some weeks more then the xbox360 one

We just need to give it time for the price to drop, As long as sony isn't losing per system sold we are good. The chips that are used in the vita are also going to be used in the up coming Tablets and phones, the more devices that use them the cheaper the become and the quicker and further the price of the vita can drop. What are they going to say with the vita is only 130 dollars. Sony made a brilliant move using the parts they did.

Nothing wrong with depending on third parties, its what made the PS1 and PS2 such a beast imo.

I don't think the market is anything like that any more.  There's no amount of money you could offer a third party for exclusivity that would trump the sales they'd make from having it on a second/third system.  At least this gen, the HD twins are just too close to be relying on third-parties.

With that said, Microsoft rely on them.  But they've got their stable of four key franchises (Halo, Gears, Fable, Forza) which sell their specific system, and then rely on third parties for the rest of the stuff.  I guess XBLA is a selling point these days too; Kinect was for a period.

Anyway, point being is I don't think Vita can rely on them.  I don't think the Vita will be a failure and I don't think it's going to die, but it's going to be really interesting to see what things like Assassin's Creed/Call of Duty do for it.   Between them & Uncharted the thing has a fair lot of stuff going for it in the west, so it should start doing alright.  If they don't boost it, I don't see how much things like God of War, Gran Turismo and the other big Sony franchises are going to do for it.

And then there's Japan...!
