I believe that they demonstrated that they're able to run unsigned code (or homebrew applications) on the Wii while taking full advantage of the Wii hardware; previously they were only able to run unsigned code on the Wii while it thought it was a Gamecube. In order to do this you still need to modify the system which (recently) became far too hard for most people.

 


ah ok thanks, so they can probably make homebrew wii games without having to buy a development kitt from nintendo or to pay a development fee or something

Nah, the Wii would have to cost $500 and be able to load games significantly faster from an SD card than from a disc to be as bad off as the PSP from a find like this. Though it is neat, I don't really see it having any lasting impact.

They are using a mod chip. Nintendo has already slightly modified the Wii to make it harder to mod (removed pins). They'll just start squirting a layer of glue on the connectors and unless you really really want to hack the new Wii's you won't do it in fear of ruining the hardware.

These guys are very smart cats, Id like to see what they could achieve if they put their minds to creating something original, rather ripping apart consoles to make them play pirated games.

yah I know, and you see when he starts saying the thing the wii has, it makes it sound like he is saying, crap crap and more crap, and just with motion controls..... it just irritates me, I mean maybe they didn't have the imagination to actually  have the idea to make a console. And they just bash it
