Forums - Nintendo - Monster Hunter Tri; Defensive stats?

Hey folks,

i bought MH3 some days ago, and so far, its really fun.

But i have a question.. i want the Rathalos Armor Set, but i noticed that it actually has a major deficit in Dragonelement-Defense (Minus-dragon at every piece -.-),.. and now, i wonder if i get killed easier by Dragons, BECAUSE it got newer equip?

thanks!

Dragon element attacks hit you harder. I guess Rathalos or Rathian attack you with its claws or tail count as a Dragon attack but I'm not 100% on that, those might just count as normal attacks. There are two monsters I know of that attack you with a dragon claw or dragon breath attack and give you dragon status too.

Btw, are you making good use of your skills? Rathalos has Attack Up (M) for example and you can use attack jewels on armor slots to give you Attack Up (L).

I'm pretty sure the only dragon attacks are the ones that can potentially give dragonblight, like Alatreon's charge when it's charged with black lightning, or Deviljho's breath, though it's been a while since i've played

Switch is 9th generation. Everyone else is playing on last gen systems! UPDATE: This is no longer true. 2nd UPDATE: I have no Switch 2. I am now behind

Yeah Attack Up (M) is a nice gift i agree, but the thing i mainly wanted to know is, if the penalty i get against dragons is increasing the taken damage by dragon Element ettacks a lot? (And, if there are those 'Dragon Attacks', does the normal Defensive stat do affect how high the damage is, at the end?)

I am a fan of big numbers, but i dont wanna die either. ^^

It depends. I went for that set and it did me fine...so it's up to you.

And it looks cool

If you like the game you should join the official guild! We'll be able to help you out there if you have any other questions :)

If you're worried, the best thing to do is just give it a try, and if you don't like it, build something else, or if you only like it for certain scenarios, build something else. Now when i chose my skill-set, i chose what came with it (pretty sure i have horrid Ice res in my main setup), and just deal with it, but different ways for different people. Low dragon res means you won't have to worry about anything until you hit High Rank (or have you?), and even then Deviljho is easy to avoid.

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

Most monsters don't have dragon element attacks so you should be fine. Like others have said, that would be Deviljho and Alatreon, can't remember any others, haven't played in a while!

I feel like playing it again though, those were some good times.

Allright ill just farm it. (got 4/5 Lagiacrus, kinda accidentally today. but i hate that one, cuz too many have em.. or at least 80% of the ppl ive met so far had that set)

@guild: there is a guild feature in MH3? O_o
