Bush Sr. lost because of Ross Perot.

Im not a fan of Obama so lets get that striaght.  The three candidates you mention have far better credentials than he did but that doesnt win elections.  I hope an exciting republican does come out and there is plenty of time for one to do so.   I can say without doubt Dr. Paul will not win.  He's a really nice guy with some great points but he will never win the primary so he will never get a real shot at the general.   The other 2 have yet to amaze and need to take down Romney.  The nation does not get to decide the primary, only the first handful of states do and Romney is doing well there.

I all agree its a republican race if you dont give me the kerry equivalent

Interestingly enough, research shows that Bush Sr. didn't lose because of Perot. Perot actually pulled more Democrats than Republicans. Bush lost because of Clinton.

At any rate, the primaries are far from decided, and IMO Romney isn't going to win with his horrible record. The next debate is in a little over a week, and I think he's going to show himself more inept than ever.

I think that's because Union workers LOOOOOVED Ross Perot.

I know my Dad was a huge fan.

I mean, was against NAFTA which is Unions were against... and most union workers I think prefer a flat tax.  Well at least the ones in good unions.

As for who i'd like....

I'd like one of the libertarian like candidates.

I'm not so much a full on Libertarian....

it's just that while there can be inefficiencies and illogical moves due to lack of knowledge and self interest...

in our government... inefficiencies and illogical moves due to lack of knowledge and self interest are a LOT more common.

We could do with tearing down almost everything and then rebuilding it.

Still a long way off any anything can happen between now and then, but I can tell you who WON'T be president after the 2012 elections...

Ron Paul
Newt Gingrich
Sarah Palin
Herman Cain
Mike Huckabee
Donald Trump
Michelle Bachmann
Rick Santorum

Anyone who seriously thinks that any of these candidates stands a chance at dethroning Obama and his Hollywood / mainstream media-driven, billion dollar campaign needs to get their head checked. Some of the best candidates in the GOP field are young up and comers or political greenhorns and aren't quite ready for prime time.

Honestly, the best candidate to beat Obama would have to be a military guy like General Petraeus, but he's repeatedly shot down any chance of him running for elected office. You also have Texas gov Rick Perry, and Paul Ryan who might throw their hats into the ring, but Perry being from Texas and Ryan's Medicare plan could hurt both of them with some voters.

You know I was always wondering why no one ever used the dollar sign for $ony, but then I realized they have no money so it would be pointless.

Ron Paul all the way baby! He will actually BRING change, not just talk about it

Hah, General Petraeus...

I feel like he isn't really that popular.

He'd be a good vice president candidate though.

One of the few things I think the Liberal Left were never able to stomach was Obama never replacing "General Betray-us!"

Hell, he even gave him a big promotion... and another big promotion.

Stuff like the Patriot Act and Fighting for Prop 8 and Against Don't Ask don't tell....

that's fine, but the Petraeus stuff.

Which i never got, by the way... I mean, it's not like invading was his Idea.

Whom do I want to win? Gary Johnson. He's like Ron Paul, but not batshit insane.

Whom do I think will win? Ron Paul or (ugh) Mitt Romney. I'm not sure if Ron Paul's insanity is just an act, but even if it isn't, he's still better than that Romney creep.

I still think Obama can win the next election if he stops being idealistic (hasn't really helped him so far, his idealism) and listens to the Republicans and deals with the budget deficit. Osama gave him a temporary boost, but that's already dying down. The economy is most Americans' greatest concern, so he really needs to fix that.

As much as I respect Petraeus and his ability to command an army (and, perhaps, the CIA), the last time you appointed a General as President, you got Eisenhower.

Yeah.

EDIT: It seems Eisenhower was actually popular. Somehow, I thought he wasn't. Maybe it's the whole Christianisation thing that puts me off. On another note, edits now work.

What specifically makes Ron Paul batshit insane?  Everything I see about the guy is far more sane than all the other candidates running (Gary Johnson isn't bad though).

Five quick reasons why he's insane: http://newsflavor.com/opinions/five-reasons-why-ron-paul-is-insane/

To add to that, he also wants to leave NATO and abolish all state funded education. He voted against civil rights and is ridiculously in favour of state government power - his answer to pretty much everything is "let the states decide". Gay marriage, abortion, human rights... meh, Texas and Tenessee can handle it >_>
