Forums - Microsoft - Rumor: Microsoft bringing big improvements to Kinect

Yeah man, count me in.....I guess. I've been pretty meh about the potential Kinect E3 announcements but this is promising. Have to stay somewhat level headed though cause it is just rumor......E3 this way to the left, speculation and rumor that way to the right.

I LOVE paying for Xbox Live! I also love that my love for it pisses off so many people.

Oh yea, Kinect fans, ASSEMBLE.

Anyway, this is looking great already, with rumours of big name hardcore games like ME3 and Ghost recon FS having integrated kinect controls, it looks like its finally time I shelled out some cash for this sexy beast of a tech. Plus it'll have better controls as well, so even more reason to buy.

make it 4/6 I just don't comment that often any more... I guet too pationate and surf the wave of the banning warning as soon as troll invade those kind of post....

but IMO Kinect is the best improvement in the console industry since LAN/ online multiplayer..... it is working better than any other motion control I have tried so far (meaning I enjoy it more) I just want it to be more present over the entire system... like I don't want to have to pick up my pad unless I play a game that needs it... the rest should be through kinect only for people who have it....

and looking at your article you will be able to do that pretty soon...

With regards Kinect, Eurogamer can reveal how Microsoft will improve its accuracy.

The Kinect camera outputs in 640x480, but the depth buffer is 320x240. Microsoft restricts the resolution of Kinect because of Xbox 360 USB limitations revealed by Eurogamer last year.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

So, turning Kinect into a simple Webcam by disabling the depth info is now called "improving accuracy"? What was the point of Kinect, again?

And the depth buffer size is not 320*240. Due to the way Kinect works, it needs a minimum specle size of 2 by 2 pixels to calculate the depth field unambiguously. Therefore the 640*480 "image" size of the IR camera is reduced to 320*240. It's not Microsoft, it's physics.

Sounds awesome. Can't wait for more quality kinect games this year and beyond.

Good, I really hope they do SOMETHING with the Kinect because as of right now, I haven't even touched the thing in over 2 months. It feels like I fell into the hype and wasted 150 bucks...

Didn't microsoft posted a video 2 months ago where thet were explainen how they would improve kinect?

Dance Central was the best dance game I've ever played. I look forward to what else Kinect can give me.

GOTY Contestants this year: Dead Space 2, Dark Souls, Tales of Graces f. Everything else can suck it.
