Forums - Sony - Some more investigation into Syphon Filter 4

Been waiting for this game forever. SF 1 is one of my favorite games, especially from the ps1 days (along with MGS1 and Twisted Metal 2). I never really got into 2 and 3, though. Think I beat 2, but was pretty disappointed by it compared to 1. Bought 3, and don't even think I played it. Was 3 good? Or was SF 1 the only good one?

Regardless, can't wait for this game. Just hope they do the SF 1 some justice.

Hmm NGP only or PS3 as well? If its NGP only hopefully it is a launch game. I want some good launch titles!

looks like i finally get my hands on whts most talked about from Sonys past

Not really. It was always in the shadow of MGS and the first one was quite close to being average (gonna get killed for saying this hehe).

EDIT: The series is very valuable though, and I really liked SP2. I just couldn't get over how Gabriel ran like a girl.

Jeez. Seems my memories are not accurate as I thought:

From article on the original Syphon Filter from Wiki:

Reception

IGN ranked the game #19 on their list of the "Top 25 Games of All Time" for the first PlayStation console.[2]

That's a super high score from IGN right there

I remember really liking Syphon Filter 1 back in the day, so I downloaded it from PSN, and it was painful.

Mostly, of course, because of the horrible blocky graphics, dated controls, poor AI and so on. Hell, IGN re-reviewed the PSN classic and gave it a 6.5, 30% lower.

I did, however, (recently) love Dark Mirror and Logan's Shadow for PSP, so I am still excited about this. And, of course, the original SF was still good for its time.
