Forums - Gaming - (Rumor) Darksiders 2 comming

This game has a lot of personality in term of artwork, badassness, coherence of the universe. Story is forgettable imho. However, it is really a direct copy of well known winning IP, like the combat system of God of War, the Zelda inspired dungeons, and one dungeon is directly inspired from Portal.

When you play a game , and you have the feeling you have already played it before, it's weird imho.

Nonetheless, I enjoyed the game a lot, and I am having a run in Apocalypse difficulty. Can't wait for a second opus.

Darksiders never really interested me as it felt like a zelda game, but in a bad way

Except, you know, it's levels and dungeons were better designed and the gameplay wasn't bad. Everything else about Zelda is better.

What bothered me the most was that it wasn't very original, like even if you were never interested in zelda you could just tell that darksiders is almost a copy.

I agree, but that was the whole point of the game. The developers even said that their intention was to make a Zelda game, so they were having a laugh and remaking a game they love in their own way, similar to what From Software did with 3D Dot Game Heroes. I can respect that can kind of admiration.

Bet with Conegamer and AussieGecko that the PS3 will have more exclusives in 2011 than the Wii or 360... or something.

i dont think its anywhere near as blatant as 3d dot game heroes.   darksiders falls into the "inspired by" category.  3d dot game heroes is pretty close to theft.

Meh the first one went head to head with Bayonetta and man Bayonetta ran laps around Darksiders.  A friend said I felt so disappointed with Darksiders cause I played it after Bayonetta but really I think if a game is really good it shouldn't matter if I play the holy grail of action games before playing it, it should still feel more than generic.

Like most games I'll look into the second one, the first one had foundation they could build on I give it that much, they just either need to improve the aspects of Zelda and God of War they're copying and make them flow and intertwine making it into something very unique, or they need to get away from that completely and make something that works for them and their style also something unique basically it needs to get out from under the shadow of the games it's drawing from, if this new info shows that I'll be looking forward to it.

Bayonetta and darksiders are 2 different type of game. I did prefer darsiders a lot more myself but thats a matter of gameplay preference.

They're both action games and really other than level design they had lots of similarities simply because Darksiders was taking note from God of War, which took note from Devil May Cry, and Bayonetta was from the creators of Devil May Cry, so what I'm saying was it was the originator vs the guys copying the copier of the style of 3D flowing hack n slash they made nearly a decade prior.

So yeah if we go by the way Darksiders had some rather sparce dungeons, I guess they're totally different, but if we go by how they both play out as hack n slash action games... Bayonetta just has it's identity while Darksiders is trying to be a jack of two trades (GoW & Zelda) and master of none.
