Be more clear on what your trying to say, I take it your trying to say that you think anime sucks too so it cant bet higher standrads or some crap?...
but you still be wrong for 2 reasons.
but ill let you clarify 1st...make sure we are on the right page
| Xxain said: Im not gonna read through the whole freview, but i do think you are being to loe on the score I played the original Lunar was a game that was legendary at its time, it was realeased in the west when JRPG renaissance hadnt started yet. LUnar is definitely a classic type game in line with the original FFs and shouldnt be judged like a new age JRPG but your complaints are most warranted
The Music is dreadful..happy tunes evrywhere regardless of situation( even final boss theme is happy) the chracters and art design sucks..even for a classic style JRPG The story is again predictable and again unlike you i found no interesting plot twist all the other deisgn choices are annoying but that was normal at time ( back tracking, chest traps, NPC advance)
lunar is a game that was great for being dufferent at the time..and thats where its fame comes from
I give it a C or a 7

For the story, I found the part with Ghadelon and the white dragon interesting. I think that's pretty much the only twist I enjoyed. The twist involving finding Mia's mom was laughable; the character designs for the two moms are the same. I wouldn't mind the backtracking if battles were fun and avoidable.
I like old school RPGs, but only a few of them aged well...well for me anyways.

Ah yes, I remember the Yakuza debate. Yakuza is a brawler :)
I'm almost done with Yakuza 4, so that might be the next game I 'review.'
I haven't beat Lunar: Silver Star Harmony yet. I have it shelved for now. The game is alright. Nothing to really get me hooked on the game (though the dialogue is pretty funny. Working Designs did a pretty good job with the script) but not bad either. I'm at Iluk Fields. So I'm more than half-way through. Maybe at the 60% mark.
The game is amazing. The psp version just brings back the classic PS1 version, the one I originally owned but I think this was originally made for Saturn or Sega CD or something either way great game. For its time was absolutely amazing, I still hold it in my top 5 of all time favorite RPGs
This remake is more or less for those who enjoyed the game way back in the 90s
You called this game short, I am interested how long did you take to play through it? I have about 30ish hours on my ps1 save and I dont think that is at all a short game.

It took me around 20 hours to complete.
So by reading all the responses so far, I take it Lunar was great back in the day, but not today....kind of like Ys. I loved Ys back then, but now, I can't even play.
I've always teetered on whether to play this or not and my answer is no. And I always pick something else with my money
but, @Mirson
Do you like light-hearted JRPG's?
The ones of the top of my head. Dragon Quest V and the other DQ's I've played 4,7,8, Trails in The Sky, Final Fantasy IX. Or ones similar to that that I can't think of.

Final Fantasy IX is one of my favorite games of all time. I also enjoyed DQ V but not 8 - can't speak for the others since I haven't played them yet. So I guess, yeah?
