First time I see this thread.
Looks really informative kowen.
If VGChartz sold is correct than wii should have shipped 2.3 mil or so for a minimum of 0.65 mil on shelves.
kowenicki said: Right, I have updated the shipment v sold chart in OP ready for the data release (shpped as at end of June 2011) from the manufactureres which is coming soon. Should be interesting. |
Didn't 360 have the most in the channel end of Q1?? Or was that adjusted below the PS3

I always wondered what were the gap between shipped and sold, about 600K to 700K I thought, and no VGC are way off by at least 1.2m overall in 2011

kowenicki said: For the upcoming June shipments numbers to watch out for: Using VGC sell through numbers: If Wii ships less than 1.65m, that will mean it is in negative supply. If PS3 ships less than 1.1m then it would be in negative supply. If 360 ships less than 1.1m then it would be innegative supply. |
What would be 'ideal' stock levels for this time of year? 800k - 1 mill??
In which case Wii ideally needs to ship 2.45 - 2.65, X360 1.9 - 2.1 and PS3 1.9 - 2.1

For wii/ps3 I'd imagine 600 to 800k in supply is right, for 360 it would be 400 to 600k? There certainly needs to be a good 200 to 250k more insupply for wii/ps3 due to wider spread of markets. |
Also need to take into account retailer expectations. I think this is why Wii supply on hand has been dropping. Retailers dont feel they need as many on hand any more.
Its libraries that sell systems not a single game.
kowenicki said: Updated with new PS3 and Wii numbers. 360 probably bang on. PS3 slightly overtracked, Wii massively overtracked!! |
Yep we are probably slightly overestimating PS3 in non europe parts of EMEA
Wii overtracked as always ;)
