pssh, psp failed hard, got beat by the DS lulz ¬_¬
anyhoo, back to L.U.C.T
Yes. If it wasn't for PSP, the market share of Nintendo in the handheld console department would have expanded more. Meaning less competition & less game choices. And I guess for gamers like us, we don't want that happen...
Ever... =D

Yeah thats it, except for the undertracked ps2 totals vgchartz has.
Time for hype

Not as much a failure as the PS3. Go, PSP!

Considering it's Sony's first handheld (and the second best selling handheld brand of all time), I'd say no. OT: Complimenting my above sentiments, yes, I'd call it a success. With the NGP, I imagine (if the cards are played right) Sony can make a significant amount of headway. |
I hate to rain on people's parades, but considering PS1 was Sony's first proper console and it destroyed the world and that PlayStation was bigger than life back in 2005, weren't expectations higher? Not talking relative to DS - it's unfair to compare anything to its might, :P - but relative to expectations, especially in terms of software?

3rd, actually. Nintendo own the top 2 handheld brands (Gameboy and DS)

I was speaking in company brands. Gameboy & DS are in the same brand. |
3rd if we count Iphone/Ipad.
| CGI-Quality said: If you know the expectations, then sure, but that's also a narrow way of looking at it. For instance, was the SNES a failure because it didn't outsell the NES? I think calling the PSP a success is valid. |
I do actually view the SNES as a failure after the almighty NES and GB, :P.
Whilst it is in no way a failure, calling the PSP a success is a tad too nice considering it was following the never-sold-under-100m PS brand.

Fair enough. Success is pretty relative anyway, depending on what you consider a system's goals.
