 "Leave Britney Alone"

I want to see!

Lol, isn't a little past the expiration date to do a parody of that?

@ OP

This is really getting ridiculous.  If a company does something you don't like, you no longer buy from them or suggest them to others.  You know, like a mature adult.  Not try to bring them down like this.  Makes the hackers seem more like crying babies.  "Leave our Geohot/Other OS alone!"

Defensive much?Did the video hit a little too close to home?

I hate to break apart your view of capitalism, but it has never worked the way you described. For every smart, informed customer that votes with his wallet and buys from a given company, you will have thousands and thousands of fucking idiots who do. The corporate scene would be a much different place if it existed in your idealistic world.

Damn, now this is just getting rediculous.

These hackers need to just get a life and leave Sony alone.

The 'get a life' being the most prominant part of that. If these hackers are that good, sell themselves as security test agents and test companies security, telling them where to plug the holes. With Sony being hacked I'm sure many companies will pay a lot to know their information is safe.

Hmm, pie.

Trouble is most security firms won't hire anyone with a criminal history, the hacker becoming a security guy just doesn't happen anymore. Turns out people don't like the idea of known criminals having securty access...

Beside many hackers claim they hack stuff to show people vulnerabilities for free...

Know what's funny? When people tell the companies about their holes. The companies would go and get a court order to silence those people so that the holes are kept under the hood and not work on a fix.

Then they wonder why they get hacked even more.

Valid points, but if you've never been caught then you have no criminal record, you just do it for the pleaseure/thrill but never steal or corrupt data. If these people are skilled enough, a good understanding and knowledge of how other hackers might work is a great incentive to hire you for a company to protect their information online.

Then if the latter group exist, why are they not the ones to go around and do this to all the Sony websites? Good people who just want Sony to keep the information safe, tell Sony who then upgrade their software and firewalls without it breaking into the news. All we've seen are hackers who are thieves.

Hmm, pie.

It's a shame you are right. I just feel many tallented people are wasting their time breaking into things when it serves a better cause, and is more rewarding, protecting things.

Hmm, pie.

Huh... usually hackers get bored by now.

I won't say "this is just getting sad now"

because well... it's ALWAYS been sad.

It's just getting... I don't even know.

Absurd i guess.  This is like the 8th security issue in 2 months.

I'm actually somewhat surprised sony hasn't been beefing up the rest of it's security.

At this point I wonder if it would be better for Sony to just shut all their servers and do security reviews on all of them.

On another note... Sony BMG? Karma is a bitch.
