Eh. Like mine. I've owned it from March '09 with zero hitches.

Some tips - cover it with a microfiver cloth when it's off, turn the power off as well. Place it in a well-ventilated spot and dust around it weekly. That should get you by... and I've been playing mine lots.

check ebay or online marketplaces for the sticker. It's possible to remove it safely without damaging the sticker, and I'm sure there's some blackmarket demand for such an item.

Well first it you could check a few things, I mean, the first thing I'd ask is, is it overheating, have you ever cleaned it properly?

Just open it up and get rid of any dust you can, afterwards, take a look at the CPU and GPU chips, see what the thermal paste is like on them, because it could just be that you need to replace the thermal paste, which costs anywhere up to £5, I've done this with my PS3 instead of having to send it in, although itonly worked for like 6 months, but it still worked, I've just been applying more thermal paste every six months or so to keep it fresh and working fine, and one tube can last like 4-6 times depending on how much you put on, lol.

If you do try this and it doesn't work then I wouldn't know what to suggest because this is the only error I've had with my PS3, overheating, and a tube of thermal paste has potentially saved me a ton of money, especially since I'm out of warranty anyway, lol.

Speaking of which... Arctic Silver 5 is the one you want. It's the best Thermal Grease around, IMO.

Actually, I just thought of something.  If you have a heatgun, you can take your PS3 apart and apply heat to the GPU and CPU to reflow the solder.  I had to do this to my 60 GB BC PS3.  Lasted about 2 or 3 months, may have been a little more.  That should get you back up in running to at least get your free games until you come up with a more permenant solution.

No warranty sticker, no repair I'm afraid.

Not for an extra $170 at least.

It's essentially a $170 sticker if the console was still under warranty. Oops.

I have a feeling whos next! The guy who really like inFamous 2 :P

You are out of your mind, i just got a slim xD

what you can do is either buy a broken ps3 with the warranty seal intact, and move the seal to the old ps3, OR, you can ask a friend who is out of warranty to give you his seal.

Just to be sure, is this the warranty sticker you're talking about?:
