What exactly does this mean:

The credit card concerns were all because the data was never encrypted when sent

Does it refer to the credit card data or what?  Sony specifically said the credit card data was encrypted.

Actually it's old news know since 2007. When the PS3 send the credit card detail to the PSN, the data are not encrypted. So if they can sniff the packages arriving in the PSN, they could have get the card detail. After, the credit card data stored on the PSN are encrypted, but the funny things if i understand well is that the log in and passwords weren't. Every major website hash the passwords to avoid them to be usefull if the data base is hack... Every one but sony.

What is more funny is that the SDF still defend sony when sony is unable to do basic security.

But we must first concentrate ourselves on the way to entertain people, for video games to live. Else, it's a world where sales representative will win, which has as effect to kill creativity. I want to say to the creators all around the world:"Courage, Dare!". Shigeru Miyamoto.

I am so uterly shocked at this news. I mean, who could have thought of such an outrageous thing?! Not Anonymous?

You know, if they don't leak any of the information, and don't abuse it themselves, then this hack was actually VERY beneficial for all of the PSN users. It displayed what a piece of shit system Sony had set up that could have been exploited by people that do intend to abuse personal information, and now it is fixed. Still, I wonder what will happen with all the info.

yet this is actually wht i thouhgt happend so i was right and didn't know it so i guss i have phantom to thank for proving me right? PSN was not secured by Sony so the door was wide open(stupid on Sonys part), even so Phantom had no right to hack PSN

I feel like some are 'trying' to make it seem as if people were pissed off at anon or hackers in general to defend sony...well fudge that, people think such hackers to be pathetic and annoying losers since they by the banner of fighting for consumer rights just gets in the way of them. they are the scum of the earth and those who are supporting them seems to be doing so mainly because of blind fanboy hatred towards a company which in this instance turned out to be not their own favorite one. people like that are no better in my books.

anywho I find great amusement in rage some of their fans are displaying across various forums and websites these days...sad but amusing

harsh, true, and funny

your on a roll man

I don't know about that, if I hacked PSN and was being sought by the US Government and Sony I wouldn't be bragging about it and saying the screen names of my friends who helped me...

i'd figure the same thing myself but some people apparently see differently, because apparently hackers are above the law
