It's got nothing to do with being liberal or conservative... and everything to do with using words correctly.

great input, if you want to drag on the issue with the word, sure go ahead, its rather pointless though.

dictionary definition says on thing, universities say another.

i already said i was talking about "sex" so what's your issue.

you cant change you sex. FACT. legal documents should not allow for you to list a different sex. no one can really have a sex change. FACT

And why do you care so much? So what if someone born as a guy can now have legal documents that say he's now a female? It doesn't even affect you.

Definition of gender:

a : sex <the feminine gender>
b : the behavioral, cultural, or psychological traits typically associated with one sex
Guess you're the one who can't read the dictionary properly.
What Rath and Khasz were saying refers to the concept of "gender" (non-physiological traits associated with masculinity and femininity) developed by social sciences in the 20th century (it's highly unlikely that you would've been taught about this in high school). Studies in fields such as Anthropology show that "masculinity" and "femininity" vary accross cultures, and that they're social constructs, rather than having biological justification.
The reason why it may seem to you that there may be a "liberal" agenda to this is because conservatives have a worldview strongly anchored in cultural myths, therefore reality will commonly oppose their worldview.
(You're right though that sex isn't something you can change, especially on a genetic level)

bolded: which was my whole point

but, so if someone ask me what my gender is, i should respond "masculine". and if some guy wants to be a girl, but is still masculine, then he would respond "masculine" as well.

...interesting

i am going to go college.

but like i said i meant "sex".

but dictionary gives my definition and yours. and a link someone posted. said gender means masculine and feminine. so that indicates to me, that when asked for gender, someone should respond "masculine" or "feminine".

at bolded: im soo smart, i doubt it.

Since the chances of you being "soo smart" are minimal (it's not meant as in insult, as no one is "soo smart" that they know everything), I'm sure there's something for you to learn in College.

You're getting closer, but gender doesn't mean "masculine" or "feminine". That's a false dichotomy. Gender is the entirety of social sex, whereas sex is the biological side (which mostly ís a dichotomy, either male or female). There are thousands of genders, it's different in each culture and for each environment.
