Forums - Sales - Japanese hardware sales - PS3 down, XBOX 360 up.

If there was one place where I would expect PS3 sales not to take a hit because of the PSN outage, it would be Japan. This doesn't seem to be the case though.

Compared to last week, PS3 sales have taken a significant hit in Japan, they are down by nearly 20%. However, the XBOX 360 sales have almost doubled.

In Europe and America, PS3 sales seem to have gone UP slightly.

With the huge popularity of online shooters like Call of Duty and the fact that the PS3 and the XBOX 360 are still competing in the West, I find it bizarre that the sales haven't taken an impact. Yet in Japan, the country where online gaming isn't popular and Nintendo and SONY are king, the sales seem to have taken a huge hit.

Which region is this? Please don't tell me I got the sales figures wrong or something.

I think its more like 1500.

The PSN problems may have actually gave the 360 a temporary boost.

It's a small impact, but really nothing note worthy. If PS3 were to have shifted to last place this week then I could see the point.

Well obviously that would be much bigger news. But this was still a pretty interesting observation.

I don't even look at the Japan numbers so I wouldn't have even noticed.

What I am trying to point out is that the PSN problems do not seem to have had an impact on the PS3 or the XBOX 360 in the West, but they have in Japan, surely it should be the other way around.

I don't understand what you talking about...

PS3: 19,636    (-14%)
360: 3,242    (-12%)

Almost the same down percent.

PS3 is still first so it don't matter

I thought XBOX 360 sales were 1,600 last week.

Please don't tell me I'm wrong.
