The new Final Fantasy online is probably the biggest reason for these losses. They put in a lot of money for it to be a successful game but from everything read It's been a train wreck.

Someone needs to buy them out. *looks at Nintendo*

It's just that simple.

Nintendo should save their money;Level 5 would be a much more valuable purchase :P

Square Enix will bounce back with the new Batman game in Q4 and DQX next year.

Warner Brothers took Batman away from Square and bought a controlling share in Rocksteady... they still have Dragon Quest (Though if Dragon Quest IX and Final Fantasy XIII still couldn't keep them from loosing money nothing will.)

Lol why? What exactly has Level-5 made that is remotely any good besides Rogues Galaxy? WKC was underwhelming, Dark Cloud is piss poor, and PL is well not my cup of tea.

They also have the upcoming Tomb Raider reboot and Deus Ex Human Revolution, Deus Ex was actully delayed until this year because of the lower forecasted financial predictions. those games might actully be successful!

They could be, I'm looking forward to the new Tomb Raider myself, but will they?  Deus Ex is a good 10 years late and well I'm not sure if enough people care about Tomb Raider anymore.  Though I still hold that if the 10 million sales between Dragon Quest IX and FInal Fantasy XIII doesn't bring profits to Square something's terribly wrong with that company.

Wada must go.

That is all.

Wada is the CEO, a buisness man, he not the reason FF13 spent 5 years in development. that is Kitase's fault for spending 5 years developing a game engine primarily for cutscenes and now realising that Crystal Tools is obsolete.

its also not Wada's fault SEs games have not been making enough money - its the developers who simply arnt making games good enough - ie. The Last Rebellion, Infinite Undiscovery, The 3rd Birthday!!

???? What?    I dont know what you heard about L5....cuz you must not know about the L5 curse.

L5 has the uncanny ability to handicap EVERY single game they make by at least one enormous amatuerish game design choice

L5 has a loooong way to go before they even start to see SE's footprints in the sand

and no surprises there. The only people that were on Square's side that have any talent left are the TO team and they alone can't save blunders as big as this. Kind of a pity those guys will never touch FF again (though it's probably for the best)
