And if they wanted to sell significantly fewer copies they would've done that.

ranting aside - it's a fantastic game, i'm currently playing Tomb Raider (Wii), RE Umbrella Chronicles, Assasins Creed, COD3 and COD4 and i'm enjoying this the most.
Unlocked Archery, High Jump, 400M and 4 X 100M Relay last night and it always seems that the last event I unlock is the best. Here's hoping we get an update or sequel with Online play for the olympics next year as looking at the records and some of the times I wanna play custom online decathlons.
Those people that think they're perfect give a bad reputation to us who are...
"With the DS, it's fair to say that Nintendo stepped out of the technical race and went for a feature differentiation with the touch screen, but I fear that it won't have a lasting impact beyond that of a gimmick - so the long-lasting appeal of the platform is at peril as a direct result of that." - Phil Harrison, Sony
Mario Party works in a similar way :)

I think my major problems with this game are the fact that you can only save your records if you are playing 1 player circuit. I think that is kind of ridiculous. A record should be saved irrespective of what mode you are playing or whether it's 1,2 or 3 player. The game should also definitely have been online. 8 player online 100m would have been the greatest thing since sliced bread (until 12 player Mario Kart comes out).
My parents played Wii for the first time last night with Mario and Sonic, they loved the game, even my mom who has never liked video games
Predictions:Sales of Wii Fit will surpass the combined sales of the Grand Theft Auto franchiseLifetime sales of Wii will surpass the combined sales of the entire Playstation family of consoles by 12/31/2015 Wii hardware sales will surpass the total hardware sales of the PS2 by 12/31/2010 Wii will have 50% marketshare or more by the end of 2008 (I was wrong!! It was a little over 48% only)Wii will surpass 45 Million in lifetime sales by the end of 2008 (I was wrong!! Nintendo Financials showed it fell slightly short of 45 million shipped by end of 2008)Wii will surpass 80 Million in lifetime sales by the end of 2009 (I was wrong!! Wii didn't even get to 70 Million)
I dunno I saw the words Mario and Sonic in one sentance and was immediately dumbfounded with curiosity. So I checked out the video, saw the cute/colorfull cg intro, then the fatal blow was dealt. They showed people actually playing it, and I saw a TON of random shaking, waving, and dare I say it, "Waggling". I was so turned off by the concept that I almost refuse to play it. I feel that Mario and Sonics first pair up was a giant waste of dev time -_- I expected SOOOOOO much more from Nintendo and Sega. /sigh

Haven't, and thanks to that damn trailer I really don't want to :( I veiw motion control as a means of flowing gameplay, after using the limited motion controll of the sixaxis in games like Folklore, heavenly sword, or ratchet and clank I just get this sense of place, this nice flowing sense of controll, kind of like it adds onto the experience in a way. When I saw mario and Sonic at the olympics however, it fealt like they took pre-existing controlls and just tried to make it "motionized". I did NOT like seeing 4 people jiggling their arms in place to simulate running :(
The trailer just left a really fowl taste in my mouth and my current mindset is to avoid this game like the plague :(

Well, you formulated your reasons why you don't want to play it so I won't write down the one sentence answer I originally planned to. However, I can only tell you that the game is fun AND challenging at the same time, and that it is worth being the first time Mario and Sonic meet in a game.
