It may take a Dual layer BD, but not two, or two single layer if you want.

the idea FF vs13 comes in two dual layer Blu ray disc's | |||

Possible, but not likely IMO.

Can I just ask why this is even important?
I'm just curious as to why people wanna know whether it comes in a dual layer or not.

That would mean FFvXIII = (FFXIII x 4) So I would say it's VERY unlikely. If it were to be ported to 360 it would be 12 DVDs, lol. The mere thought that something as humongous can make a profit is hard to believe. |
Final Fantasy XIII was released in a dual layer BD and it's between 40 and 44 GBs in torrent sites... two dual layer BDs would be FFXIII x 2, not x4.

But FFXIII barely had any boobs :( there was only 1 girl with nice boobs and glases and Versus XIII is going to have even less?
I'm not buying it anymore :(
Nah, I'm kidding :P
I don't care if it's a dual layer, 2-pack, prestige edition covered with gold and the blood of 1000 virgins, it's better than Final Fantasy XIII????

No, Blu-ray discs are still only 25GB per layer, They havent rolled out that update yet, for various reasons. There are quite a few companies that have added many layers to a dics though, Hitachi, TDK and Panasonic have working 100GB 4 layer blu-ray discs, Sony has 200GB 8 Layer discs and Pioneer has 16 layer 400GB discs. And I believe the Hitachi, Sony and Pioneer one will all work on existing hardware with only a firmware update.
just imagine how many DVD Xbox360 gonna be if it goes multiplatform when even PS3 BD is more then 1...

For some reason I thought the game used a single layer BD, thanks for the info. Anyway, that would still make it x2.5 times bigger, and even if compressed it would take like 7-8 DVDs. I still find it hard to believe

Explain how, in your self proclaimed wisdom, its impossible, since there have been quite a few games this gen that has almost filled up a Dual Layer Blu-ray, why would it be impossible to make a game that would require a second one. |
It wouldn't be impossible to make one, that wasn't the question though.
The ending movie cutscene alone in FFXIII is more than 5GB. FFXIII could easily have been trimmed down 10GB without any noticeable difference simply by not using pre rendered cutscenes in a few areas where they obviously were not needed as these scenes were rendered using the in game engine. I realise that due to RAM restraints they were sometimes used where a scene would change from different places and it would need to happen instantly, there were times when this was not the case though but a pre rendered game engine scene were still used.
I dont think the game will need much more than ff13 did. And if it does its probably more cutscnese than new content.
