Bad Company 2 is not 'BF2'.  On the BC2 stats page the PC version is right between the 360 and PS3 version.  Depending on if pirated copies are on there (I suspect they'd be a lot higher if that were true, some site claims 4 million pirated downloads) I'd say the PC version is probably close to equal with the 360 version considering you can't sell it used or loan it to friends. 

Battlfield 2 did 2.35 million in its first year.  Can't seem to find any data past that.  In comparison, 1942 did (supposedly, can't seem to find the original source for this) 2 million in its first year, and 3.35 million as of June 2006 (as well as over a million copies of the individual expansions).  This number does not inclued the Mac sales for 1942.  Overall, the series had done 9.32 million on PC as of June 2006 (again, not including Mac).

Unrelated, but I really hope BF2: Complete and BC2 Vietnam are part of this EA week on Steam.

Interesting analysis all. I agree that it may be more difficult for the casual gamer to pcik up the game but many will get it the first week due to advertising and word-of-mouth. Afterwards if Casuals hate it, this may impact the legs as I had suggested
