Forums - Sales - Have any AAA 3rd party Wii games bombed?

Conegamer said:

Epic Mickey is another one.

But the real issue is simple the lack of quality titles. 10 3rd party greats with a few niche greats (Red Steel, No More Heroes etc.) in 5 years? Not a great record if you ask me.

And RES is a port, take it off please. That wasn't big budget

Done.

Do you really want a list?

If you could.

For example:

No More Heroes 1 and 2

The Last Story

Xenoblade (Could become pretty popular once released worldwide but Japanese sales were disappointing)

Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands (The Wii version was made independently from the other versions and was highly advertised)

Madworld (Managed to sell well at a 9,99$ price point but it certainly didn't bring them much money as they most likely overshipped a lot)

Little King's Story

Zack & Wiki

Dead Space Extraction

Silent Hill: Shattered Memories

Red Steel 2

On the other hand, they are plenty of bad games that did awesome on the Wii lol

None of those REALLY count as AAA IMO though...

Here lies the dearly departed Nintendomination Thread.

RE4 wii edition was a port and therefore does not meet your criteria for AAA

1m != success.  profit = success which is not possible for us to determine.

for example: no more heros at 0.5M probably made a profit. Red Steel 2 probably didn't.

...and don't forget, reaching a million in sales means next to nothing if your game is in the bargin bin at $10 a pop.

I know, I know... I was just putting forward a commonly used benchmark.  The profit thing is why I suggested that a sub-million-selling game that got a sequel doesn't qualify as AAA, as you'd have to guess it made a profit, which would suggest a lower development/advertising budget.

As for RE4, while it was a port, at least it wasn't a gimped one, and it did have a big-budget development when it was first created.  Dead Rising was sort of a port as well, but if it had had a bigger advertising budget (for Wii) and actually been any good I'd have been prepared to count it.

Did you just completely ignore the criteria set out?

What's the difference between Epic Mickey and these?

I read them all and came up with that list.

What's wrong?

What's the difference between Epic Mickey and these?

Epic Mickey had 400 people working on them, heavily advertised and hyped, had prolific people working behind them, in development for many years and was a landmark game, highly successful both commercially and financially.

None of these games were. Most were niche or ports, and sold accordingly.

You are very wrong.

Okay I guess No More Heroes, Little King's Story and Zack & Wiki don't actually meet the criteria for highly advertised but all the others were.

Other then Monster hunter what else can even be considered AAA? seen a few examples but they are nowhere near AAA titels
