I'd say that time they hacked and messed upother peoples computers in hopes to stop them from pirating music.

Apparently paying zero attention to keeping their online infrastructure up to date is probably like 2nd.

I mean the PS2s had sold less at that point... and the exploding batteries effected less people.

i am sure your answer is relevant to my post, but i don't see how

“It appeared that there had even been demonstrations to thank Big Brother for raising the chocolate ration to twenty grams a week. And only yesterday, he reflected, it had been announced that the ration was to be reduced to twenty grams a week. Was it possible that they could swallow that, after only twenty-four hours? Yes, they swallowed it.”

Bolded.  Back then you sued sony with no effort and only needed to claim a check afterwords.   That's what's great about Class Action lawsuits.

Great LULZ!  I'd buy a PS3, connect it to PSN and ask hackers to hack them just to have Kaz Hirai personally deliver Veronica Belmont naked at my address!

Well Sony just nicely confirmed to me that they compromised my main email..... haven't used the SoE account in a while too so I don't remember which level of security password I used on it... which means i'll have to change all of my passwords.... great (I have various passwords for variously trusted sites... and I have spam email adresses for sites I don't trust one bit... needless to say sony was on the trusted list).

short summary of email:

Haha we screwed you in april but only realized it on may 1st... so on may 3rd we wrote an email for you that we're only sending now, may 5th for god knows what reason. Since we're sorry we'll graciously offer services in identity theft protection, these will be made by local contacts etc etc.

-> i'm thinking of joining any Euro lawsuit, as for many sites, your email is also your login, and this means that although sony does not have my credit card info, my shopping accounts (such as amazon) where my credit card is stored, have become more of a liability than before.

Customer Service Notification

1. fermé temporairement tous les services de jeux SOE ;
Cordialement,
Sony Online Entertainment LLC

"The first team is from Data Forté, and according to Reuters it's led by "a former special agent with the U.S. Naval Criminal Investigative Service". The company specialises in the "preservation and collection of electronic evidence", and has experience with similar cases, having helped prosecute hackers responsible for data theft from a "major motion picture studio".

The second team is from Guidance Software, a data security firm. While specialising in the training of staff and the selling of corporate data protection software, Guidance has dispatched a number of "cyber-security detectives" from its ranks to help in the investigation.

The third company, Protiviti, is not involved in trying to catch those responsible. Instead, as a company specialising in things like audits, it is providing consultants to help Sony "clean up" the mess left by the attack and the fact the PSN has been down for over a week."

LMAO!!! where did find such an epic pic!?!?!?!?!?

Musterbuster – Community Team Leader on EU Forums has just let everyone know that PSN is still on track to resume service for this week.

He posted the following comment:

Hey guys,

I would love to be able to give you new information, and right now there isn’t any available.

I’m asking lots of questions but at the moment all I’m being told is that the “last update still stands” eg – Some PlayStation Network services will be restored this week.

The very second I hear anything new, it will be passed on to you. I’m also keeping a note of your feedback throughout this outage, so keep posting it.

Much love,

MB

Important Step for Service Restoration

Posted by Patrick Seybold // Sr. Director, Corporate Communications & Social Media

Today our global network and security teams at Sony Network Entertainment and Sony Computer Entertainment began the final stages of internal testing of the new system, an important step towards restoring PlayStation Network and Qriocity services.

As previously mentioned, we’ve been working around the clock to rebuild the network and enhance protections of your personal data. It’s our top priority to ensure your data is safe when you begin using the services again.

We understand that many of you are eager to again enjoy the PlayStation Network and Qriocity entertainment services that you love, so we wanted you to be aware of this milestone and our progress. We will provide additional updates as soon as we can.
