I agree with that guy. I think having the classic Nintendo franchises in HD for the first time will be a phenomenal experience.
Now, will they be doing an HD remake of Metroid:Prime...

I am also a Nintendo fan. You must consider that Wii owners have been claiming along this generation that graphics are not important, being the gameplay the most important factor. I also would like to see a HD Mario or a HD Zelda, but I am afraid that would not be enough. There has to be something else, something new. There has been HD graphics before Xbox360 was launched back in 2005, so HD is not a new factor nowadays. Nintendo Cafe is only going to be a bit more powerful that PS3... so can you imagine what will happen when Sony and Microsoft release their next PS4 and Xbox720 by around 2014? Yes, those consoles will be much more powerful than Nintendo Cafe and there will be the same graphical difference between Nintendo consoles and competition. Nintendo will also have graphics from last generation and users will doom them again.
I hope I am not right but we will have to wait and see how surprising is Project Cafe next June. I hope this time Nnitendo live up to expectations.

No because they'll hurt my feelings again and make it non-realistic
Having a more powerful system will make many Wii games less visially displeasing. I.E. we want smooth cheerful looking visuals. I think you kinda get to a point where the graphics actually become displeasing if you're used to better or your display shows up the shortcomings (HD 1080P 53" TV).
Tease.

An article by Iwata released today: It’s pretty much a well-known fact that third-parties haven’t been able to find success on the Wii. Sure, a few titles have performed beyond expectations – such as Just Dance – but on the whole, third-party releases just haven’t sold well. Satoru Iwata was asked to comment on Nintendo’s inability to attract third-parties for the Wii at the company’s financial results briefing last week. Iwata explained that poor sales of previous games was a factor, as was the console’s graphical limitations and competition among other platforms. He also said that Nintendo is interested in cooperating with software developers for the Wii’s successor and admitted that third-parties are important to maintain the market. Ok, thanks for finding a source :)
I'd like to point out that I predicted several months back, mid/early 2010, that Nintendo would likely show off a new system at this year's E3, and my argument was largely because, A) the timing matches thier recent history of releasing a new portable and then releasing a new consoel and B) they have to in order to stay relevant (and the 3DS is a portable system in 3-D that likely has better graphical capabilities than the Wii).
And I was thouroughly mocked and flamed for saying Nintendo would have a new system announcement at this year's E3.
Just felt like pointing that out.

Don't be silly; you were flamed and mocked for many other reasons too!

Yes, I know. A true testament to the childish way people respond to criticism of Nintendo.
Funny, I doubt many of those who flamed me for criticizing Nintendo own as many pieces of Nintendo hardware as I do.
Didnt Satura Iwata say in an interview that the games they make on the Wii were already built in HD. They just have to downgrade them to be played on the Wii, I am very positive I read this somewhere.
Albion - Its Fun as Ballz !!!!!
When you say Hardcore Nintendo fan then you mean either the ones from the NES/SNES days. Maybe the fan who stayed around and bought a N64, and Gamecube. These fans are not going to care as long as they get Mario, Zelda, and other Nintendo games. Now your Pretendo fans who have Nintendo consoles, but want 360, and PS3. Then maybe if Project Cafe can make them happy. If the system has the power that Western developers want, and provide something to get the Japanese gamers back to consoles. Then Project Cafe could become what the PS2 was or what they Wii could have been. A console that everyone will play with Class A first party titles, and equal 3rd party games. Nintendo can use their games to build the userbase, and the 3rd parties games to tie hungry gamers over.
Regardless of it being HD or not real Nintendo gamers are not going to care. As long as Nintendo keep doing what they been doing. Now your Pretendos they are the wild card, but If I was Nintendo I wouldn't care about them anyway. Whatever they do find a way to bring the new casual, and expanded gamers with you to the new system.
