You probably didn't have a smartphone back before they started using capacitive screens, but they used the same type of glass they use nowadays (at least, the HTC ones that I had did). The phones back then were also designed to use a stylus, but the screens themselves (unless they had a screen protector on them) felt the same as the phones today. The reason the DS and 3DS screens feel the way they do is because Nintendo designed them to take a beating from 5-year-old kids pushing way too hard with a stylus. Your average touchscreen phone has never been built with that in mind. |
