Forums - Microsoft - Vgchartz ranking game--Forza Motorsports 3!

Update: I have decided to give 800 MS points or a $10 PSN card (sorry Wii only users, I don't know how to get you guys anything) every 3 months to the person who I feel has consistantly had the best reviews in my threads. Hopefully this will inspire even more great reviews in these threads. Your reviews start to count with this thread ( April 29th 2011) so the person with the best reviews will win at the end of July.

All you have to do is put what score you think the game below deserves, and write a brief explanation as to why it deserves that score.

Voting is open for 3 days, after the 3 day period I will count up all the scores and get the average of the game.  I will be putting up a new thread with a new game every 3 days

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Rules

1. You had to have played at least enough of the game to form an honest opinion about it

(playing it for 5 minutes is NOT enough time, nor is watching a friend play the game)

2. Scores have to be on a 10 point scale with 7 being average.

3. If you score a game 5 or under, you have to go into great detail as to why you gave it such a low score.

4. A game must have at least 15 people that gave it a score to be counted.

5. If you score a game more than once none of your scores will count

6. Users with less than 50 posts cannot score a game.

Nope haven't played this one. (this is a bump :))

9.0

great graphics
60 FPS
good car selection
nice tracks
car customization
fun gameplay
good sounds
slick menu
splitscreen

rewind feature is too easy to abuse
too many laps in the later events
long loading times
only like 2 good songs, some decent and many forgettable ones

After playing GT5 I have to rate Forza3 higher than I previously would have. It holds up very well.

Sharp smooth graphics, tons of customization, everything you want from a racing sim, good online community, I like the interface, great selection of cars and tracks, authentic car sounds, tons of replay value, driving assists cater for hardcore sim fans and casuals alike

-can be a bit boring (as with all sims), I'm not the biggest fan of the rewind button

8.5/10

Conclusion: As far as driving sims are concerned, Forza3 seriously challenges GT's supremacy. I would never have said it before GT5 came out, but Turn10 have shown they are a high class dev with this title.

It will be interesting to see if they can improve much with Forza4.

8.8

pros - good racer, good selection of cars and tracks, decent handling, fun to race, fun physics and online and okayish car damage

cons - can be slow to load, graphical hitches, some tracks don't seem 100% accurate (I'm sure many of the tracks seem a bit wider than real life - I must check this out really, the internet should know), some flaws with driving model next to GT5

Overall very good but I feel it sacrifices a bit too much on the simulation side for the racing/fun side.  And driving is serious business.

Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...

PRO`s

  • very accesable for all ages(this is the #1 plus point)
  • terrific audio design
  • great grafix performance
  • tuning set ups
  • good car selection
  • good handling
  • car customisation
  • online features
  • good track selection
  • easy to navigate menu system

CON`s

  • long load times
  • tracks are inaccurate
  • lack of game content
  • season play mode can get boring
  • car models being swapped for higher res models during photomode
  • default music isnt that good

forza 3 is an excellent game thats made for all ages, its a sim racer at heart with an arcade style campain overlay to make core game interesting, it has good online features with great customisation on cars and very good audio design.

my main gripe would be they have made it to cater for a larger audience instead of focusing on the sim side, interior models could be improved for the next instalment, and cars whilst they look good, when on track looking at them they dont seem anywhere as good as gt5 cars, but again gt5 and forza are different style of games and its difficult to make a comparitive review of them. best buy both imo

OVERALL SCORE  --- 9.2 ---

...not much time to post anymore, used to be awesome on here really good fond memories from VGchartz...

ye they are quite long wether installed or not, but its a racing game so its not as bad as lets say a fps

another point on the cons i forgot, is that the full game ie extra tracks and cars are only availiable if you have a HDD

but i still quite like it but prefer the old style single player of forza 2, where you can only take part when reaching certain level and exp. i just think the grind to get better is more suited to sim racers imo working your socks off to save money for that car you wanted is much more satasfying than playing through a season mode

Yeah the only reason why I didn't mention the second disc thing is because it didn't affect me...it certainly is a con for some people but i'm not one of them lol.

And I agree, season mode in F3 just doesn't feel as rewarding as as F2's single player progression (and even that wasn't very good) I hope with F4 that they make the single player much more enthralling then past games have been, give me a good reason to keep playing your game Turn 10! (other then the achievements)

Overall I though Forza 3 was a pretty fantastic game, and I'm not even a very big racing fan, though I do play alot of them. Yes, I know I'm an achievement whore

Pro's

- Fantastic graphics for the most part, every once in a while there is some noticable jaggies and less detailed environments but as a whole its pretty beautiful

- The best feeling racing controllls this gen. While I hate to make the comparison it seems I must. GT5 seems to be slightly more "realistic" but Forza just is more fun.

- Very deep customization, including a fantastic paintshop customization where you can litteraly paint anything you can imagine if you have the skills and the time to do it. Below are some examples of just how in depth the paint shop is. These were all painted by just ordinary people with great talent. Easily the most impressive paint shop customization in ANY racer.
