Forums - Gaming - SUPER MARIO GALAXY VS. BIOSHOCK!!!!

SMG took longer to make, it had a larger development budget, it had a larger marketing budget, it is more innovative, it has a better art direction, it has better music, it has a higher rating, it is a console seller, and it will sell 5 times as many copies.

currently playing: Desktop Tower Defense (PC), Puzzle Quest (DS), Trauma Center New Blood (Wii), Guitar Hero III (Wii), Ghost Squad (Wii), Actraiser (SNES), Donkey Kong County (SNES), The Legend of Zelda (NES), Kirby's Adventure (NES)

will play next: Paper Mario (N64), Golden Axe II (Sega), NiGHTS (Wii)

Even though both were over rated i'll go with Galaxy just because I don't like shooting games (without wiimote/mouse).

I haven't played both, but since Bioshock generally isn't my idea of a good game, concept, story or theme.. My opinion would be SMG by a long shot

No it didnt have more innovation, no it didnt have better art, no it doesnt have better music/sound

those are your opinions, personally galaxy is danm well an awsome game, but it doesnt blow bioshock away at all, i would put the two on par

With regard to Call of Duty 4 having an ultra short single player campaign, I guess it may well have been due to the size limitations of DVD on the XBox 360, one of various limitations multi-platform game designers will have to take into consideration-Mike B

Proud supporter of all 3 console companys

Proud owner of 360wii and DS/psp

Game trailers-Halo 3 only dissapointed the people who wanted to be dissapointed.

Bet with Harvey Birdman that Lost Odyssey will sell more then Blue dragon did.

I have all of the GOTY contenders - and as hyped as folks are about SMG, I don't see it happening. Why? If you over the age of 35, you'll find yourself passing out from vertigo! It's a cool game, but somewhat overrated. Yeah, it's fun, but doggone - you can't compare SMG to Bioshock to start off with!!!

Bioshock is awesome, and Call of Duty was dynamic, but Mass Effect brought some really cool stuff to the table. I am telling folks - ME vs. Bioshock, but I have to go with Bioshock, FTW.

So you have your opinions and I have mine.  I notice you didn't question the 5 times better sales opinion :)

OK, first I have to qualify my remarks by saying that I don't own a 360, so I have never played Bioshock.

That being said, I thought it would be a better game than Halo 3 when it came out -- and I stand by that (and the reviews proved me right).

I have no problem with either game winning the award -- nor any problem with a couple of the other games mentioned in here gathering the honor.

My problem has been when games are not mentioned or nominated -- such as the Spike Video Game Awards that had the same four games nominated for 360 Game of the Year and Game of the Year.

If you are a neutral observer/critic of videogames, and you do not put SMG on your top 10 or top 5 list, then I think you have a problem -- especially since the consensus of the reviews is that it is the best game of the current generation of consoles (for what that is worth).

I am Mario.

I like to jump around, and would lead a fairly serene and aimless existence if it weren't for my friends always getting into trouble. I love to help out, even when it puts me at risk. I seem to make friends with people who just can't stay out of trouble.

None of the FPS should be Game of the Year simply because its just more of the same, with the noteable exception of Bioshock. It doesn't depend on its multiplayer to carry it like Halo 3 and COD4. Team Fortress 2 is fun but I can't say its better than the original. Kind of crappy when compared to the fun of the first Team Fortress Classic. 2fort? Well? I put in hours and hours in on that game talking smak and generaly having a good time. With TF2 you have no Grenades, no MIRVs, no Caltrops, the HW guy has been neutered, Medic can't jump all the way across the screen. I mean the Scout is like the most powerful character in the game with his baseball bat. How crappy is that? Don't get me wrong, I still think it's OK, but I have to admit I was most disappointed in it. When you are just comparing Bioshock to SMG I can't say I am qualified to have an opinion yet. I have played and enjoyed both games alot. Bioshock has the better storyline but SMG just flows so well. You would have to play it to know what I mean. It just plays flawlessly. Both of these games are great. I suggest anyone that has the means to pick them both up asap.

I haven't finished beating SMG so i can't say it is better than bio, but from what i've played so far its a gream mario game. Bio has a lot of great things going for it like visuals, sound, voice acting, and gameplay. Not to mention a really good story. SMG also has a lot of great things going for it. So far i'm satisfied with both games.
