Thank you, that is a relief.

I have a better way. I use my memory and then change them because I remember all my passwords. I will NEVER store my passwords on a computer, let alone a piece of software on it.

It's a tradeoff. If you want truly secure passwords, something like LastPass is great for helping you out, as we could never possibly remember those passwords, nor remember the different passwords used everywhere.

If you don't want your passwords written down somewhere, then you might be better off remembering them. But LastPass stores your passwords in an encrypted file, and the only one who ever sees the decrypted data is you, and you choose the key used for encrypting and decrypting your file.

If someone is specifically targetting your passwords, there might be a risk if they can get the file from your computer. But the encryption used by LastPass is hard to break, so unless they get your masterpassword (which is the one you shouldn't be writing down of course), using LastPass shouldn't be any more unsecure with regards to hackers then trying to remember your passwords by yourself.

So it's a tradeoff. Do you want more security if people try to steal your passwords, or do you want more secure passwords?

I'm going to continue to use the same password, the reason why is because I'm just that lazy and it's just easier to remember and I don't feel like writing them down. lol

Hope nobody did this.

Supposedly Lastpass was hacked too.

This news seems to be days old but while listening to the radio today I hear about it.

Dear LastPass User,

On May 3rd, we discovered suspicious network activity on the LastPass internal network. After investigating, we determined that it was possible that a limited amount of data was accessed. All LastPass accounts were quickly locked down, preventing access from unknown locations. We then announced our findings and course of action on our blog and spoke with the media.

As you know, LastPass does not have access to your master password or your confidential data. To further secure your account, LastPass now requires you to verify your identity when logging in. You will be prompted to validate your email if you try to log in from a new location. This prompt will continue to appear until you change your master password or indicate that you are comfortable with the strength of your master password.

Please visit https://lastpass.com/status for more information.

Thanks,
The LastPass Team
