by selling the banned ones (now unbanned) pre-owned to someone for cheap, microsoft can atleast make money off games and XBL rather than all those units which are collecting dust doing nothing.

thats what i think anyway...

why obviously im not certain, that does sound like it could be the case. Many people who got their consoles banned sold them used on ebay or traded them in to bestbuy and other stores. The unfortunate buyers would not be able to go online. Lately microsoft has been making a number of moves to improve public relations. Maybe this is just another one. Of course it could just be a mistake or preperations for future bans.

Well the pirates are gonna pirate regardless. Atleast some of them might pay for Xbox Live. But I think its best to keep them banned to potentially discourage piracy.

Cheaters can be banned again. I'm not against giving the owners of that hardware a second chance.
