Forums - Sony - PlayStation Network 'Short-Term Pain' Worth It for Gamers

That's what annoys me about all of this, nobody ever looks beyond the here and now and the gimme gimme gimme. everyone only care about what they get cheap and quickly. If they look at the bigger picture, the would realise that most of Sony's actions to date have your best interest at heart as well as their own.

Exactly. Look how fast it went from "Thanks Sony for not charging us 60 dollars a year for a good internet service for games" to "Fucking Sony, they suck, PS3 servers blow...blah blah blah"

But this is human nature, it's hard to fight against it.

I don't mind, im still gaming.

e=mc^2

Gaming on: PS4 Pro, Switch, SNES Mini, Wii U, PC (i5-7400, GTX 1060)

I have patience, I also have a life.  I also have my priorities (most of them) in order.  And, yes, Sony is ultimately doing this from a business point of view, but that's the whole point.  Business provides goods.  And the PS3 (and all it has to offer including PSN) is GOOD!

Hard, but no excuse not to better yourself.

agree with both of you

OT: coming from a generation where consoles had none or little internet requirements, I have all the patience needed for Sony to get PSN back up and running.(that and a huge backlog of games I haven't beaten)

Few companies have your best interest at heart, they just want your money. Sony is DEFINITELY one of those companies.

I think you need to take a look at the big picture here. Sony is protecting their ass(ets), nothing more. They don't give a damn about you and have done nothing but prove this time and time again since the launch of the Playstation brand.

With that said, Microsoft, Nintendo, Apple, etc. are no better.

Yes your right thats why they charge you for online...oh wait no they don't.That's why they want you to buy they're rechargeable batteries for the Dual Shock 3...oh wait it comes with a recharegable battery BUIT-IN.Thats why the try to charge you for a wireless adapter....wait a second where can I be going with this?Hard drive...oh my...where am I going. Can it be that they care about they're....customers like me!?!?!?Well thats Sony for you.:)

Five hundred and ninety nine US dollars.

They didn't quickly drop the price by $200 just to be nice--they did it because no one was buying the damn thing.

The fact that they don't do it exactly the same way as Microsoft means nothing--they are a corporation, and corporations only care about money.

Could I trouble you for some maple syrup to go with the plate of roffles you just served up?

Saying you will make something "hacker proof" is then like throwing raw meat into a den full of hungry lions.  This will be daring hackers to try to break their system, because how much this work may be said to make things "hacker proof".  Will see how it goes.  I will say though, IF they DARE release a patch that kills backwards compatibility on my PS3 60GB unit, I will need to think hard and fast about whether I ever plug the system into their network, or trade it in to get store credit.
