I don`t understand why he puts Wii2 in a Dreamcast like situation? Dreamcast had to fight the market leader PS1 and the soon to become mighty PS2. Nintendo isn`t in that position. Given Wii`s success, even if it comes out way first than the other two, Nintendo has the brand to avoid failing like Dreamcast did. And actually, that`s something MS and Sony should be worried about, not Nintendo.
About the cost/price of Wii2, it probably won`t be cheap but i don`t really believe Nintendo will stay away from the mass market price for a lot. I guess that would be like leaving one big market and going after a smaller one.
But hey, i no nothing about prices/cost to be sure about this!
"Second, we believe that the Wii successor will require third party software support to recapture market share from Microsoft and Sony. If the platform is on par technologically with the PS3, it is likely that third parties will support it; if it is a significant advance over the PS3 technology, it is possible that games will have to be developed separately, rather than ported from Xbox 360 and PS3 games. A higher technological standard could mean that some publishers will be reluctant to develop for a platform with a small installed base, and will wait for greater penetration before bringing games out."
I get with what he says, it`s the conclusion seems misleading. His he taling about specifica Wii 2 games or just games in general?
I think that 3rd parties will probably probe the market with ports and if the market`s there they will probably either make them especially for Wii2 or at least base the games on Wii 2 and then port to other consoles.
