PSN down for five days, Sony warns of “time intensive” fix

Sony has finally updated the public on the ongoing PSN outage, as the service has now been offline for five days.

Spoiler: it’s bad news.

Said SCEA comms boss Patrick Seybold, speaking on the PS Blog:

“I know you are waiting for additional information on when PlayStation Network and Qriocity services will be online. Unfortunately, I don’t have an update or timeframe to share at this point in time.

“As we previously noted, this is a time intensive process and we’re working to get them back online quickly. We’ll keep you updated with information as it becomes available. We once again thank you for your patience.”

PSN was taken offline last Wednesday thanks to an “external intrusion” and has been down ever since.

Kotaku has reported that Sony has “not yet determined” if credit card information was taken in the attack.

This seems to be more bad news and knowing that everyone's credit info is in jeopardy makes me even more uneasy.

Around the Network

That's pretty bad if after 5 days they still can't figure if user data was compromised.

Anyone can guess. It takes no effort to throw out lots of predictions and have some of them be correct. You are not and wiser or better for having your guesses be right. Even a blind man can hit the bullseye.

oh well....back to my single-player games...but i really do hope this get fixed soon

Exactly, and if it is, who then would be held responsible for any lost money and personal information? As a result.

i'm extreemly angry but not at sony but rather the hackers.  if it turns out that this intrustion was enabled by the security breach failoverflow and geohot created i'm going to be much much angrier.

Around the Network

That really sucks... Now I'm starting to sweat, my credit card info is on my PSN account. =(

No SuperSFIV online for me anytime soon... back to Single Player I go!

Do your best PSN crew :D

Someone tried to use my card details today. Fortuately the bank noticed it as the transaction took place in USA, so I didn't lose any money. Do you think this could be related to PSN? as I did have the details saved on there. I don't think I'll ever save my details again.

Geohoot that son of bitch it's all his fault I think Sony should have taken his ass and out him in jail. He's the reason I'm not getting Mortal Kombat. Now all I have to play is Reach and Black ops. Geohoot better pay a miserable price for the bitchy thing he's done.

That's why I use PSN/XBL/Wii game cards instead of using my credit card. This way if something bad happens than I can at least know my monies will be safe ^^

Sig thanks to Saber! :D
