Can't possibly be Gears 3...that low of numbers would be almost impossibly low.

Maybe he means Uncharted 3? That seems too high though. |
Honestly that is totally possible IMO
Uncharted 2 did 900k WW FW I think and Uncharted 3 is gonna sell much better then Uncharted 2.

Got to be honest I don't see Uncharted 3 significantly outselling UC2.
Uncharted 2 had the perfect storm going for it of being a huge improvement over the original, massively positive reviews, and not near as much competition against established franchises as Uncharted 3 will face with Gears of War 3, Call of Duty, Elder Scrolls, Mass Effect, and possibly a Halo game and Assassins Creed all releasing in a similar time frame.
That being said I do think Uncharted 3 will outsell 2, just not by a significant amount.

Gears 3, & Halo game, Assassin's Creed (3?), and Mass Effect 3 will hardly be any competition for Uncharted 3 (Gears 3 & any Halo game especially, because they're on the 360 only). Call of Duty (I'm thinking Modern warfare 3) & Skyrim may be some competition, because CoD is CoD and this is the newest Elder Scrolls in 5 (plus) years. That said, none of those games will have any significant impact on Uncharted 3's final tally. The only real threat to it not topping (or just clearing) UC2 is the timing of release. |
Sorry CGI but I just don't agree at all.
Games that sell more than 7 million copies DO impact games around them for sure. Fact is people only have so much money to spend on games. Call of Duty substantially effects sales its already been proven by everyone running away from it during its launch time frame. Assassins Creed is a bigger franchise than Uncharted is and is also an adventure game which will affect its sales, Ubisoft already confirmed a new Creed for the 4th quarter. Gears and Halo may be exclusives but there are litteraly millions of multi-console owners. Franchises that huge will sway some console owners to pick up Uncharted later. Elder Scrolls and Mass Effect may not be as massive as the others but are still VERY strong competition.
And again I'm counting out even MORE games like Batman Arkham City which again is an adventure game which will influence sales as well as huge games like Battlefield 3. I've been saying it for a while now, Quarter 4 is too big period. The gaming public just can't support that many huge scale franchises at once. Someone is going to be hurt in sales I can promise you that.
wow november will be insane with U3, AC3, MW3, Skyrim, BF3, ME3.
Like you said just too many huge franchises in that timeframe. And this will seriously affect sales one way or another.
I'm interested in almot all of them but I won't be able to initially get more than 1 or2...
What a choice!
Skyrim may sell over 9 million copies across 3 platforms

A. @ bolded: On PS3, Uncharted 2 has sold more than any Assassin's Creed game, so not quite. B. Call of Duty may make an impact (which I said), but it won't be substantial. C. Gears and Halo (also as I said) will do nothing to Uncharted 3. They just won't. D. Being strong competition doesn't mean you instantly impact others in a critical way. Sure, anything can be competition, but anything won't be competition. Like you, all I can do is speculate, but I stand by the assessment that outside of CoD and maybe Skyrim, I don't see Uncharted 3 affected by much else in any meaningful way. |
So you can tell me in all honesty you think this lineup won't have an impact on someone's sales. You believe that all these games will see similar levels of success all releasing in a VERY narrow window of time, but somehow people will generate enough money to see them all see simliar success rates or even better ones?
1. Gears of War 3
2. Uncharted 3
3. Halo CE remake
4. Call of Duty
5. Batman Arkham City
6. Mass Effect 3
7. Elder Scrolls Skyrim
8. Assassins Creed 3
9. Battlefield 3
And that not even including games that may be announced at E3 or big franchises that will launch late in the year and will generate big legs throughout the holidays such as
10. Forza 4
11. Resistance 3
12. Twisted Metal
13. Kinect
14. Possibly an NGP launch.
Sorry but quarter 4 is too big, in fact the largest in gameing history I believe in terms of software. Someones sales, if not multiple franchises, will see lower at the very least initial sales.

Some of those probably won't launch during that same period anyway. I personally see Mass Effect 3 slipping to Jan/Feb 2012 & Battlefield 3 pushed to Mar 2012. I can see Modern Warfare 3, Skyrim, & Assassin's Creed III being the three big multiplatform releases of holiday 2011, but with Uncharted 2 not affected much by Assassin's Creed II or Modern Warfare 2 in 2009, I think Uncharted 3 can weather the 2011 storm. |
It definitely would make sense for EA to push Mass effect 3 back but I don't see that happening with Battlefield 3.
They already stated that it will release in november and compete with MW3. However, I do believe Uncharted launching at the beginning of the month might be an advantage.
