First of all, extremely misleading thread title.

Second, is there sex educatoin before the 9th grade in the state? If not, then this is would seem just fine. No point of talkign abut homosexuality if sexuality hasn't been talked about in the first place.

It is still wrong, because if a 8th grade student comes to a teacher with questions on why he thinks boy x is cute, or female thinks girl y is hott they cannot discuss it and explain to them why.

Then it is not in class, is it?

It's still not allowed, according to the bill.

"R-Shelbyville, who said current law already prohibits the teaching of any sex education not covered by the state Board of Education's "family life curriculum," the Knoxville News Sentinel reported Friday. However, Campfield contended homosexuality is being discussed in classrooms. "

Right from the linked article. I see no problem with what they are dong given no one talks about sexuality at all. Also, the bill implies homosexuality in class. If you go after class or whatever and ask a teacher it seems it is fine.

Well..

The video says, it also limits actual education. World history has a lot of homosexual figures and events. So basically any hope of a proper history education in Tennessee is going to be thrown out the window because Greeks had homosexuals, Romans had homosexuals, the US south had homosexuals, the Japanese had homosexuals, the Germans had homosexuals, etc, etc. This means you cannot go into percussion of certain people that different cultures deemed wrong, you cannot discuss the morality of the actions, and you lose understanding.

Well, that's another thing they should fix. From personal experience I can guarantee kida are already facing sexuality and sexual issues starting from 11-12, so the 9th grade is way too late. Plus, homosexuality doesn;'t have to be discussed in a sexual context (for example saying John has a boyfriend is no more sexual than saying he has a girlfriend).

Actually the problem is that kids in the US are just too fucking sheltered, becasue the foundation of most US culture is based off of ignorance.

"Ignorance is bliss" after all...

That's in theory, but in practice you can be sure that some conservaticve christian parent will have a cow if he hears a teacher talked about homosexuality in any context whatsoever.

That's actually true. This law prohibits teachers for sayin that homosexuals were victims of the Holocaust.

Again, ALL sexsuality is banned. Also you never learn shit about history before the 9th grade anyhow. So don't even try to push it off as if they are losing anything.

According to this it seems like they just put homosezuality on even footing with actual sexuality. If the kid can go and ask a bout a girl after class, then the kid can also talk about homosexuality.

actually, you are supposed to at least learn american history and go into basic mythology and such. So this law hurts american history. You cannot teach about gay pride events and such which means entire sections in history books will be skipped. whats worse is if all sexuality is banned, you can't even learn about the basics of marriage or even learn the word in spelling/english classes.

As I said, homosexuality doesn't necessarily have to be discussed in a sexual context. For example if you say Ferdinand married Isabelle, that's essentially discussing heterosexuality in a non-sexual context. And this is allowed. However discussing soemthing like Emperor Hadrian had a male concubine named Antonius whom he loved, is forbidden by this bill. Heck, saying that homosexuals were victims of the Holocaust is forbidden by this bill. It's essentially a double standard.

That is kind of funny, because whatever you learn pre-9th grade you learn in high-school anyhow. That goes for world and american history. Literally, anything you learn before 9th grade in history is absolutely useless.
