Demon's Souls is the hardest game you will ever play for about the first 5 hours, after that if you still are having difficulty you probably should stick to your FPS guns lolz.

It's still extremely hard unless you read the walk-through in the Black Phantom edition or guides on the internet, which by some people is considered cheating.

I would have to disagree, once you learn what white/black tendency is, everything in the game is at your diposal. The game does not have tons of gear or weapons like other rpgs, and everything is neatly seperated into each level. The game is quite organized between white and black tendency and that is what makes it very simple to get everything in each level.

But you can't even figure out what black/white tendency is without a guide or someone telling you!

It was pretty simple really, there was a world tendency screen in the menu. Every time I defeated a level in one of the worlds, it turned brighter. Not sure how everything else didin't fall into place for you.

You must be some kind of genious then. So did you even figure out that some NPCs only spawned at a certain world tendency?

Everyone else here on VGC needed guides for Demon's Souls and thought the game was very hard, it's a well established fact. Just go look up all the DS threads on the Sony boards or the official thread.

Everyone needs to get used to tough games then. That's the only way to play games, on their hard to hardest difficulties.

@DrGrass: No. I've given DS a mere 122 hours of gameplay, too. It's just my opinion - the patterns in the game are so simple that I want to cry when I read these OMG HARDZ posts.

@regular SFIV player: got an arcade stick? :P

VGChartz' review was the one who made me buy this game.

Yes I did, I asked myself "why was an npc here now?" Like 4-1 where I did a lot of waiting for online play. The world tendency menu said it all. Just because you and a lot in the vgc community struggled with the game does not mean everyone else did and the vgc community certainly does not represent the video game community as a whole so not sure why you brought that up.

No offence to anyone, but if Demon's Souls is what you consider hard, you haven't played a hard game in your life, EVER. That game is ALL predictable patterns, from beginning to finish. The only way it can be remotely hard is if you picked a Barbarian as your first character, because he starts with no armor whatsoever and a weak wooden shield. Otherwise, you're just seriously overreaching.

Do you want truly hard? Put Contra 4 or SuperSFIV on their highest difficulties ;)

Ah, wait! Demon's Souls DOES have one tough enemy. Try your luck against a swamp bird or whatever it's called. Patterns or no patterns, if you get two of them on you, your only way out is warping back to the nexus.

so only 2 games are harder?

ok....so our point still stands, its a damn hard game.

Re-read, then get back to me.

ok i re-read

it says

"Do you want truly hard? Put Contra 4 or SuperSFIV on their highest difficulties ;)"

so yes...thats 2 games....and their not even rpg's so i dont know why you didnt mention an rpg if you thought there was one harder (not hard because its controls sucks or something like that)

This'll make Tor's day ;)

you were so right.  Y'know the sad thing though?  Last E3 Atlus was all nice to our guys because of how quickly we reviewed Demon's Souls for them and how much they liked the review, but I wasn't the one that got a meeting with Atlus so they were all nice to Kitchen and Loadedstatement.  Buncha BS if you ask me.

Point: not only 2 games are harder. I never said only 2, I only gave you examples.

Come on Xen thats bullshit and you know it.

I don't want to play hard games..I play games to have fun and I know i'm not the only one that thinks that way.

When I played Demon Souls, I wouldn't say it was hard perse. More along the lines of cheap. I had very little trouble with the handful of bosses I took down...

If you died at any point in Demon's Souls, it was far from cheap. The player was always at fault.

And people should be glad. The NA version was much easier than the Japanese or Asian version.
