Microsoft's attempts to market the Xbox 360 as family friendly are going to backfire in Europe, because it's going to make them lose more potential customers than they can possibly gain from it. Seriously, which self-respecting teenager or young male is going to purchase a console that is played by females? That's the main market for Microsoft and Sony and MS is the one who is putting those people off. Microsoft will stay ahead in America, but Europe and Japan will easily offset that for Sony. |
By right, I mean don't cut the price until after MS have done.
They don't want to get into a price war, because they can't really win that... To make the coming pricecut as good as it can be, they need to cut the price after MS have done.
Microsoft are trying to dip into Nintendo's "casual" pie. I actually feel that a Wii pricecut, if followed up by compelling SW, can harm the 360 quite a bit in America until the 360/Kinect gets a pricecut.
