According to US site The Paul Gale Network, the studio is currently working on a project for Wii 2 that "everyone wants us to do"; a cryptic message made a little hard to decipher by the fact that all the franchises Retro seems to work on for Nintendo aren't exactly unlovable.

The news apparently came from two insiders at the studio in Austin, who said that the firm were amongst the first to receive Wii 2 dev kits.

Nintendo's Wii 2 has reportedly been named 'Project Cafe' behind-the-scenes, and features a custom IBM PowerPC CPU with three cores, a GPU from the ATI R700 family with a shader unit at version 4.1, and at least 512Mb of RAM.

CVG's sources have told us that the system will come with a controller that houses its own HD touch-screen. We expect and E3 reveal in June.

At this point I would be surprised if they aren't. Specs looks plausible, R700 gpu would put it quite above current HD consoles, the X360 gpu xenos is based on the R500 family, 2 generations behind, the Ps3 RSX is also based on Geforce7000 the same generation competior from Nvidia. Still I'm wondering how much I should care about rumors.

As for the game, I don't know I'd like both a new 3d Metroid, a new DK, or a new IP. Still, considering the hardware capabilites I'd rather have a new first-person Metroid.

i hope they have been working on Metroid as i really miss the FPA style game-play in it.

They were working on finishing MK7 though as an emergency 3DS holiday title. So now they must be free, but probably since E3 they've been focusing on MK7

The thing is its hard to narrow it down to actually know what people want :P

I mean I want metroid, some want star fox, others want raven blade, some want Zelda so which is it =_0

Let’s say they have been busy with MK7 since E3. That means they have been working on the new title since DKCR cam out right? At that time they were actually working on two titles and one of them was DKCR so who knows how far they are with it :D
