There are already games on Mobile devices using the Unreal Engine. Gameloft currently has (4) more in development.

I must of missed when Cliffy B backtracked off of his "We could make lesser powered engines or go back and rework engines for weaker systems but don't want to because that's not what we're about because it wouldn't be interesting." statements back when everyone was like "Why no Wii unreal engine".

I'm surprised people would bother to liscense an engine for a 99 cent game.

Seems like a "Be super successful or your screwed" setup.

Nah, if he wan an idiot he would of really believed the above.  He just seems more like someone that ikes to rationilize when he was wrong... which doesn't seem needed consdiering isn't epic a private company like Valve?  I mean the closest think Valve has to "backtracking" actually made sense.  Supporting the PS3, because Sony allowed them to put steamworks on the PS3. 

I wonder exactly how much functionality steamworks on PS3 has... and why Sony would let them do it.

mockery is a form of flattery or fear. It is very easy to diss what you fear in an attempt to make yourself look and feel better about it.

Tell ya what go take a look real quick and see just how many copies of Angry Birds have sold.  Then go look at how many copies Infamous, God of War, and Killzone have sold.

Here's a hint Angry Birds has been downloaded over 50 million times.

You would be a fool if your a game developer and you didn't recognize the vastly growing trend of quick, casual, cheap games


its a fact shovelware sells more than AAA games. why do you assume the better product has better sales? thats rarely the case in any industry, not only games.

Sells more is what governs what is produced.  And one has to be able to be careful how they define "a better product".  Does adding high graphic visuals, quality voice action and sound work, a professionally written script, and everything else that movies get awards for the benchmark of  the GAME side of things being better?  Is Angry Birds fun to play, and accessible?  Does it offer a good time for people?  If the answer is yes, than it is a high quality game, as a game.  Individuals working in the area of AAA production titles needing heavy duty engines for games, will cause the likes of Nintendo, Epic, and others, to have concerned.  You are seeing increasing number of voices on the high production side (as opposed to small team flash and phone game side) concerned that gamers may end up shifting their bucks to more disposable games, and being satisified.  If that shift increasingly happens, then Epic will face issues, as will Nintendo and Sony, who have portable units that are trying to compete with cell phone market.

pretty well actually.....was it 20 exclusives ps3 showed of?? i cant recall a similar trailer like that from nintendo.

they can mock wii 2 will full confidence. even if the casuals buy it they know its hardcore games will flop.

i guess you haven't looked at the red they have been bleeding this whole gen. I am sure sony would love to switch spots with the wii right now. Maybe than they wouldn't be playing catch up with their hardware.

well im not a shareholder so i dont care, im talking from a consumers point of view.

anyways unlike nintendo, video games are only a small part of sony so they can afford to make losses on the ps3 which they will get back in long term sales because unlike the wii, ps3 will be selling 5 years from now. and dont forget to add all the money the make from selling games like calll of duty, GTA and other 3rd party games which wii misses out on.

imo its better to start of bad and grow rather than market the hell out of a product then let it die early.

looking at the rumors of wii2, they still dont seem to have learnt their lesson then their fans blame 3rd party devs when they simply dont have sufficient hardware to work on.

Even if the PS3 is on the market for 15 years it probably won't make even half as much profit as the Wii...

So I ask you a question is it better to:

A: Make $5B in 5 years and nothing after that?

B: Lose $6B in 3 years then make another $12B over the following 9 years?

wow.... when companies make big profits people complain, when they sell you expensive technology for a price lower than its production, people still complain.

i dont know about you buy i dont give a dam about sony and nintendo's profit/loss, all i know is ps3 is sold closer to the price that its made for than the wii and thats one reason i see better value in it.
