Forums - Gaming - Has voice acting ever made or broken a game for you?

Star Ocean 4. I stopped playing because voice acting in one scene was appalling. Sounds' in general were aweful and it put me off. Okay so I started playing other games but I haven't gone back yet, don't knwo when I will.

Hmm, pie.

FF13. I hated the "Aussie" accents and I'm an Aussie. Just insufferable.

Resident evil 1

whats is this.................blood?

You could have been  a jill sandwhich.....

and so on, but it didnt ruin it for me, I was only about 8 when i played the first one so i ust didnt notice how bad it was then, but now come to think about it, not many games around that time had voice acting in a game

Mega Man 8.

Dear God, the voice acting was atrocious. I played for two stages, (Tengu Man and Clown Man) and just couldn't stand it anymore.

Hell, the male protagonist actually sounds less like a dude than his little sister.

That's... Just wrong.

Probably the only mainline Mega Man game I'll never complete.

clown man

*shudders*

Indeed.

i don't even notice voice acting... seriously.... except that it's slower than reading when I have the text too.

That's really were Arc Rise fails, everything is read so deliberatly and slow, I could read the line 3-4 times before the "actor' finished, it really wears on you especially in a game with so much diologue.

Ha! I forgot that one too. My wife likes to randomly quote the "blood" line. I think RE might have invented bad voice acting, but it's a damn good game, so I think most of us let it slide.

LISTEN TO THE FIRST WORLD PODCAST REAL GAMERS, REAL AWESOME

after play Staro Ocean 4, Arc Rise Fantasia, and quantom theory...no....painful?....a little bit...

I never heard anyone say, "This is a great game but I stopped playing it because of the voice acting sucks."

Majin is probably a good -> great game, but I didn't buy it, because the western version only has the english voice acting, which is totally unbearable to me and the japanese version costs an arm and a leg.

I can't stand playing any Japanese Games wih English Voices dubbing has always sucked for any Japanese Game and Anime as well as any foreign films original Voice casts are always best way to experience a Game, Anime or a foreign Film.

and yes this is personal option for all the people that believe that you need to say IMO all the time even though it is not necessary because all comments are really just Personal Options after all.

but in Games were there is only English VA Biohazard has some of the worst VA in History .
