my gamecube broke at one point. But it had a 2 year warranty on it, so i got another one within a week :P I generally make it my business to stay away from sony products, generally because of how they have such a high returns rate, and a lot of their products arent of extremely high quality. For example, apparently a lot of their Bravia Tvs are returned, i know lots of PS2s are returned, and the same with their new walkman phones.

I'm going to give a short list of products and any problems:

GBC: No problems (Pokemon Red FTW!)

GBA (SP): Several Problems. Every now and again the GB would just delete my save file (made me wary of nintendo products, as I lost several hours of hard work), also cartridges required blowing into, that said my brother's  GBA (SP) and GBA were fine.

(Brother's) DS (Fat one): No problems

PSP: No problems, the battery last longer than people would have to believe

PS2:  Apart from L2, R2 Buttons, and analog sticks getting stuck on 1/4 of our controllers, it's been fine. Not bad for a 7+ yo console, used with building work in the house (really dusty inside)

PS3: Recent purchase, but as of yet no problems

Windows: Too many problems too count, I will forever be wary of Microsoft products. Also XP refuses to play the Original C & C, which is annoying becuase that was a classic game.

2 Sony TVs (one must be nearly a decade old now), DVD player, 3 Sony ericsson Phones, 3 Sony cameras, one very old camcorder and Mini-Disc Player all working fine. Although the 9/10 year-old CD changer now has an infuriating clicking noise on CD playback. Also several Sony audio players also work fine, but Connect player is awful.

As you can see, Sony have yet to let our family down at any rate. 

i am starting to wonder about the PS3.........it seems there have been more recalls/defects on the 360 than PS3..does anyone have a comparison?

I know of nobody who has problems with thier PS3, although IMO it may be too early to tell, but one of my friend's xBox 360 crashes whenever they play COD, no idea about the Wii though, only know one person who has one.

I don't there have been any major recalls or defects to report regarding PS3.

but the 360 did right?? and if so where they fixed.im getting one and now wondering if i should wait so i dont get a 360 thats been on the shelf...if you catch my drift

My launch PS2 died after a little more than a year, DRE.

My 2nd PS2 froze up near the end of me playing FFX, while I was saving.  Wiped out *everything* on my memory card.  Pissed me off so much I stopped gaming entirely for a couple years and just used the PS2 for DVDs.  Played I think GTA: San Andreas when it came out and started up a little bit again.  Eventually it got DRE too after about 2.5 years.

Got a slim PS2 a little later 'cause the gf wanted DDR and, well, we needed a new DVD player anyway.  Have not had any problems with it yet, about 2.5 years later.

Outside the blowing in the cartridges thing, never had a problem with any other system, though my PS2 experiences definitely turned me off of getting a PS3 and once I heard of the 360 problems that as well.  PS3 seems to be fine so far but I'll wait until those launch systems have a year or so of play time on them before I actually call it reliable. ;>

The system that game me problems were NES, SNES, Megadrive, gameboy and N64, but i still love em. I have to remove and insert the catridge like 10 times before I can start the game. And sometimes I get corrupted graphics and have to remove the catridge, blow the connectors and insert it again a few times till it works. I believe this is a common problem to many. As for MS..... I have been getting BSOD since windows 95 till XP. My sony consoles have never given me any problems yet, 0 problems. My PS1 is 11years old and PS2 is 4 years old. I have like 4 Sony TV at home which are 19, 17, 14, 10 years old. The 19 year old TV had only gone thru 1 repair.

On the flip side of the coin, I do have something to say about the resilience of a Nintendo product, namely the Famicom Twin's proprietary diskette.

It looked similar to a 3.5" disc you used to use on computers, but it was slightly smaller and yellow in color.

I've spilt rum and cokes on these discs and believe it or not, I've simply let the disc dry out and pop it into the disc drive and yep, it keeps working!

if you buy one make sure you but warrenty with it. I love my 360 even tough im on my 3rd one but its really worth it.
