Considering the console is still priced at $300, and has been since 2009, many of you have gone light headed here too.. what's wrong? What happened to the hardcore discussions this site was commonly flooded with?

what makes any of you think, a console with an entry price of $300 has seen its best selling year so far? The 360 might have, considering it is priced CHEAPER THAN THE DS in some regions, and is priced at $200 at entry in the U.S, but the ps3?

Blu-ray is becoming ever more popular..

and 3d is beginning to grow as a market with 3D tv's already as cheap as $800 are starting to appear

PS3's main attractions next to gaming are its media capabilities, BLU RAY especially, the fact it's $300 doesn't attract many looking for just a blu ray player..

at a cheaper price, ($199).. that changes, not completely, but that certainly changes especially if someone is looking for a 3D BLU RAY PLAYER

You must be new. Every year is PS3's best.

2011 will be even better... 17 million for fiscal year I expect.

With just a $50 price cut, the PS3 has the potential to do what it did last year. Or even more.

The PS3 has definitely not seen its peak year, obviously. Its at the launch price of most consoles right now.

When it reaches $199 sales will obviously increase a lot. Hopefully it will reach that point at a profit.

Anyone who can't afford a PS3 at $299 probably should have other priorities, Sony should save them foolish from themselves and keep the price high.

Of course it wasn't PS3 will be up YOY in 2011.

I dont know about that. As a fan i would love to see them beat their sales from last year but so far looking at this years figures, they have had lower sales for nearly all months so far. The only way I can see that changing is with the huge exclusive lineup coming up leading to increased hardware sales. Particulary Uncharted 3 which i think will beat 5M (tho i am worried about pre-ordering numbas at the moment.

Anytime ps3 has a price drop 360 will have one too, nobody gets a ps3 for bluray anymore as blu-ray players are a lot cheaper, 360 and pc can play 3d too not that it matters because 3d tvs will never see mass adoption until u can watch them without glasses.Your a flaming troll leo nothing more.

if Sony drops the PS3's price to $199, i don't see how it won't sell more than last year =)
